Carteret Office of Economic Development The Carteret Office of Economic Development manages the day-to day operations of programs that promote economic and community development, including the Urban Enterprise Program (UEZ), Community Development Block Grant, Neighborhood Preservation Program, Regional Contribution Agreements, and Carteret Business Partnership, the special improvement district. In addition the office works closely with the redevelopment plans and initiatives along with the Carteret Redevelopment Agency The operations are managed by Director, Kathaleen R. Today, there are 32 UEZs in 37 municipalities. Carteret obtained UEZ Authority approval for inclusion in the UEZ Program January 11, 1995. The District Management Corporation (DMC) is managed by the elected Board of Directors and operated with an annual budget which is funded by a special assessment on commercial properties. The Board of Directors is comprised of commercial property and business owners, as well as municipal officials. The Board identifies the goals, objectives and activities that enhance the business environment and provide an economic stimulus for the business community. As a non-profit corporation, CBP works to expand business offerings, promote business retention and recruitment, enhance the visual appearance, and develop a variety of marketing programs and activities that further the goals of the corporation.
