A couple of topics to be discussed: New Challenges for Women in Science and Business ; How science can contribute to human security in the context of globalisation, etc. Emphasis will be made on combination of female management and successful business experience, what meets the goals of EWMD association. Meetings with local and potential EWMD members, outstanding women and female organisation leaders will be organized in four towns. Tour will also highlight briefly the main places of interest, architectural monuments in three Capital cities of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Vilnius city tour highlights: cradle of town Cathedral Square, visit to Rulers‘ Palace (under reconstruction), masterpiece of Gothic architecture-St. Ann‘s Church (15th C.), Pearl of Baroque style –Church of SS Peter & Paul boasting 2000 human statues inside (17th C.), Amber Gallery, local Montmartre- funky Republic of Uzhupis, Chapel of Dawn famous for miracle-making image of Merciful Mother of God, Russian Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit (17th C.) Continue to Trakai National Historical Park, visit Trakai Island Castle (15th C.). Sailing on the lake Galve. 16:00 – return to Vilnius. Time at leisure 19:00 Dinner and networking with Lithuanian EWMD members at the restaurant in the old city. RIGA (Latvia) Day 3, Sunday, 22 May: After breakfast transfer to Riga. Stop on the way for sightseeing of the splendid Rundale Palace (Baroque, 17th C.), called little Versailles of Latvia. Arrival Riga, accommodation at 4*Riga Hotel, known for the grand „soviet style“ and the best location in town, opposite the Opera Theatre, close to the Old city and Monument of Freedom (Brivibas Monument) . Walking sightseeing of Old Riga, former prosperous Hanseatic town, includes: the largest Gothic church in the Baltics Dome Cathedral (13th C.), Livonian Order Castle (15th C., presently the Latvia‘s President‘s office), Blackheads House on the Town Hall square, the Old Guild House, Three Sisters‘ House, wonderful Art-Nouve (Jugendstil) buildings collection in the centre. 19:00 Dinner with EWMD Latvia existing and potential members, LBWA (Latvian Business Woman Association, http://www.lbwa.lv/en/) Persons in charge: Inga Darzniece and Irina Petersone. Day 4, Monday, 23 May: 09:00 visit to Riga’s Duma, meeting with Riga‘s Vice Mayor Ainars Shlessers (or Andris Ameriks) 11:00 – mini conference at Riga‘s University, with participation of Prof. Dr. Zaneta Ozolinia, member of Europe Scientific Research Committee (to be clarified ). 16:00 visit to SHAAR company, meeting with Director Mrs. Nadezda Shabazova, winner of award EUWIIN 2007 (European Union of Women Inventors and Innovators Network), and Golden medal “Global Quality Management”(Madrid 2004) holder. Presentation of company’s exclusive oil production ( www.saar.lv) . 19:30 Dinner and networking at the restaurant Otto Schwarz with a grand view of Riga's Old Town. TALLINN (Estonia) Day 5, Tuesday, 24 May: After breakfast 08:30 transfer to Tallinn via Tartu, second largest city. 11:30 – meeting in Tartu with members of local women LIONS and ROTARY Club. Person in charge: Triinu Tammiste 16:00 arrival Tallinn. Accommodation at 4*Meriton Grand Conference and Spa Hotel in the centre, close to the Parliament building in the Old town. (Free entry to the swimming pool for us any time). 17:00 Sightseeing Old Tallinn featuring: Lower and & Upper Town, Toompea Castle (14th C.), Dome Cathedral (13th C.), the best preserved in North Europe Town Hall (15 C.), the oldest functioning Apothecary (1422), Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (19th C), panoramic view of the Old city. 19:30 Dinner and networking at the restaurant in the Old Town Day 6, Wed, 25 May 09:00 Meeting with members Estonian Women`s Associations Roundtable, coordinator for EWL (European Women's Lobby), with mission to advance gender equality in Estonia, and to support the European Union’s political decisions aiming to strengthen women’s human rights and gender equality (www.enu.ee/enu.php?keel=3 ) 15:00 Meeting with Agnes Aaslaid & Petriina Rumm, founders of recently established co.
