Nowadays at the institute we have 5265 undergraduate
students in 23 directions and 168 postgraduate students in 15
specialties at 4 faculties: «Automation of technological processes»,
«Technics and technology of oil and gas industry», «Food
technology» and «Textile and light industry». 16 researchers carry
out their scientific research, there are 25 departments in the
institute, from which 19 are graduation, master’s department and
retraining center. Teaching stuff are 338 people, out of which 10
are doctors of sciences and professors, 157 are candidates of
sciences and senior lecturers.
In 2005-2007 the institute executed Tempus project CDJEP–24104–2003 “Curriculum development of master’s degree
“Food safety”:
Now 4 projects are carried out under foreign grants at the
institute.
1. Under TASIS TEMPUS in cooperation with Dresden
Technical University, “НЕIСА: Higher Education Initiative for
Informatics in Central Asia».
2. In cooperation with Dortmund Technical University,
“Modernization of traditions: Uzbek textile heritage as a cultural
and economic resource».
3. In cooperation with German Society of International
Cooperation project on theme «”Regional network of teachers
training in Central Asia countries”.
4. The institute is the partner in the project «530244TEMPUS-1-2012-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPCR ENGITEC: Modernizing
higher engineering education in Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan
to meet the technology challenge».

In 2008-2009 in the industry of Uzbekistan gain rates in
small-scale and private business averaged 23-24 %, as for 20052011 in the national economy more than 5 million new workplaces
were created. From them more than 60 % is in sphere of smallscale and private businesses where over 75 % of all occupied
population is employed.
Today more than 90 % of all managing subjects is the
enterprises of small-scale business. On its share 22 % of made
industrial, 98 % of agricultural production are necessary about 54
% of gross national product.
The analysis of managing subjects of small-scale business
has shown that 85 % of managers expressed their requirement for
highly skilled experts in the area of power and alternative power
technologies on complex re-processing agricultural raw materials
on food products, fodder and technical purpose, possessing
marketing, management, standardization and book keeping skills.
It is an actual problem to maintain a developing branch of
a small-scale business of Uzbekistan with highly skilled experts
possessing fundamental knowledge in area technicians and
technologies of food manufactures, capable to operate and project
modern complexes of the equipment and technological processes
independently.
Regarding this, the project urgency is caused by the
necessity of training highly skilled experts with marketing,
management, standardization and book keeping skills for small
enterprises of all regions of the Republic in the area of power and
alternative power technologies, such as re-processing agricultural
raw materials from food products, fodder and materials for
technical purposes.
Such experts will provide products, meeting the world
standards on quality, package as well as resource and power
savings. Thereby small enterprises can count on entering the world
market.
Basic knowledge and competence of a masters graduate
allow it successfully adapt in the market of professional work, and
if necessary, to create own small enterprise. After all, reform in
higher education of Uzbekistan assumes to release highly skilled
experts claimed on a labor market.
The project purpose is to train competent experts,
technicians and technologies of food manufactures meeting modern
level of sciences in a new specialty of master’s in «Food
engineering of small enterprises» by introducing new curricula for

It is the primary goal of the present project to train new
experts independently obtaining industrial research, scientific and
pedagogical knowledge and to train a new profession of managers
and experts in the operating small industrial enterprises. It will
give the chance to raise the level of technical, technological and
economical knowledge of businessmen of the Republic and to
develop industrial business. Development of modern power saving
and hazard-free small manufacture is a major factor to create new
workplaces and to develop the region as a whole.
The present project provides working out and state
standard introduction, complex curricula for new master’s degree
specialties “Food engineering of small enterprises”.
