160/09. CONFIRMATION AND SIGNING OF MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 9th
SEPTEMBER 2009
Minutes of a meeting as above were duly accepted as a true record and signed by
Cllr. L Smith, Chairman.
161/09. CEMETERY MATTERS
a) Confidential Matter (appendix A)
b) Update on grave/garden of remembrance spaces highlighted at a meeting with
the Grounds Maintenance Contractor
Grave spaces noted and investigation to trace family members is in hand.
c) Consideration of draft letter to be sent to owners of grave spaces at which there
are unauthorised edgings/cultivations
RESOLVED: not to issue draft letter. Request to be made to Funeral Directors that
upon purchase of a grave space families sign in agreement to the rules, copy of
which must be returned to the Parish Council Office. Re-turfing to be offered free of
charge.
RESOLVED: a site meeting with the Grounds Maintenance Contractor and committee
members is arranged in order to resolve matters relating to the effect of cultivation of
graves with regard to grounds maintenance issues, following which, and if it is felt
necessary, a sensitive letter will be sent to the family to draw their attention to the
matter.
d) Consideration to undertake topple testing section by section
RESOLVED: to contact LRALC to request further information on topple testing and
maintenance of grave stones.
e) Grounds Maintenance

Works to garden areas adjacent to the front of the Cemetery and removal of
the privet hedge etc will be undertaken within the next few weeks. It is
advised all works should be completed prior to Christmas 2009

f) Exposed timber at Cemetery Chapel roof – works completed
RESOLVED: to paint storage building door
g) Purchase/installation/Position of new bins – order placed for 3 bins
It is advised that the 437litre bins, for which an order had been placed, are
discontinued.
RESOLVED: to purchase three x 350 litre wire waste bins @ £120.88 each + delivery
h) Further to investigation consideration of quotation relating to purchase of software
to accommodate a plan of the cemetery plotted for PC use
Investigation is in hand
162/09. WAR MEMORIAL
a) Essential Maintenance to War Memorial and Surrounding Area – quotations
accepted at Full Council
RESOLVED: Work to be progressed following agreement of the precept at the Full
Council meeting in December. Grant funding to be investigated
b) Grounds Maintenance – tree works approved

163/09. THE CULVERTS
No business for consideration
164/09. THE ROUNDHOUSE – works to interior/exterior completed – new doors/works
to interior furnishings
Inspection of works undertaken has been completed by grant funding bodies.
Funding will follow in due course.
165/09. ROSE GARDEN AREA AT NORTH STREET – quotation for removal of clay
soil/replaced with top soil accepted at November meeting of Full Council
It is advised that further to a site meeting the layout will need to be altered to
accommodate the Guides Centenary planting. This may affect the cost and will be
subject to Full Council approval.
166/09. CONSIDERATION OF COMPLETED INSPECTION REPORTS
A review of completed inspection reports was undertaken. There were no issues
outstanding.
New forms including Inspection dates up to April 2010 were distributed to Committee
members.
