Regenerative Therapies – Stem Cell Therapy: A New, LeastInvasive Method of Collection with Bimodal Treatment, an
Overview of Stall-Side Platelet Therapy (E-PET), VetCell
Protocol and Bone Marrow Collection (sponsored by Equine
Partners America and Pall Animal Health)
Shelly Zacharias, DVM, MS
Dr. Zacharias received her DVM from Oklahoma State U. She has been involved in
veterinary medicine from companion animal, equine and exotic animal veterinarian,

program for veterinary patients which allows clients to cryopreserve their pets’ stem
cell-rich tissues that are usually discarded during routine procedures. She is now
conducting clinical trials using allogeneic MSC’s for specific disease processes in
hopes of having an “off the shelf” stem cell product in veterinary hospitals. Her
special interests are in endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, and
oncology, as well as regenerative medicine.
Alfredo Romero, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Romero received his DVM from Cornell University, and did a surgical internship
at Hagyard Davidson Mcgee. While completing his residency program in equine
