Collections Disposals at Highwic, Auckland and Pompallier Mission, Russell The objects listed below have been selected for disposal from the collections of Highwic and Pompallier Mission (cared for by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust). These objects have been formally de-accessioned through the NZHPT Board. NZHPT endeavours to ensure that de-accessioned collection items remain, where possible, in the public domain, and therefore they are offered free of charge (with the exception of transport costs) to the museum community. These objects have been de-accessioned because: They were acquired some time ago without reference to collecting policy and have no direct connection to the properties; They were acquired primarily for the purposes of room-dressing and should have not been accessioned into the permanent collection; They are not and are unlikely ever to be on public display. First preference will be given to institutions who wish to acquire these objects for permanent collections, however in the absence of any such interest consideration will be given to institutions who wish to acquire these items for supporting collections or exhibition prop purposes. Please note: The costs of transport must be borne by the new owner. These objects are currently located in Kerikeri and in Auckland. Whilst these items are believed to be in robust condition, the properties do not have climate-controlled facilities and will not accept liability for pest infestation. Whilst all known avenues have been utilised to research the provenance of these items, in some cases the original source is unknown. Details of this research are available on request. Items are therefore acquired at the new owner’s risk. Inspection is welcomed, and expressions of interest will be accepted until the end of February 2014.
