Pilgrim by Vintage, a collaboration between the Vintage team,
and Paul Tebbutt, the designer of the original British bowl back
guitar, is the latest and venerable addition to the Vintage range,
faithfully recreates a cult slice of UK guitar history, and is
destined to become a modern classic

All-mahogany guitars are a popular choice these days with a real

with a more mellow sonic aura; Vintage acoustics have a newlyintroduced selection of these interesting guitars included in their
line-up - well worthy of consideration for any guitarist perhaps
seeking that smoother, darker acoustic tone.
The new Vintage Synergy series with slim, sculpted sides,
Originally hand crafted in Leicestershire for just a few short years
during the early 1970’s, this new version continues the lineage,
and is still produced by hand using the original recipe for the
fibreglass bowl, faithfully recreating the original unique Pilgrim
bowl shape and features the same elegantly understated
cosmetics and possesses all the verve, sparkle and tonal finesse
that Pilgrim became famous for, now further enhanced by the
extremely capable Fishman Presys+ onboard preamp system.
Finally, the new Vintage 'Laka' pro-spec ukuleles, in acoustic and
electro-acoustic formats are not only finished in a tone-friendly
open pore satin finish but are fitted with premium Italian Aquila
strings for maximum playing performance and an even, balanced
sound. Laka electros are also equipped with unobtrusive, high
performance USA-made Fishman Sonitone preamp systems, for
enjoyably melodious and responsive plugged-in tones.

The Sonicore Pickup
Fishman's Sonicore® undersaddle guitar pickup is made with a unique
co-polymer sensing material exclusive to Fishman, which provides excellent
acoustic guitar reproduction. The Sonicore pickup is a continuous length of
piezo material embedded in a fully shielded coaxial cable which senses the
motion of the entire saddle, providing excellent string to string balance
while its small size and convenient undersaddle design helps preserve both
the aesthetic and structural integrity of the guitar.
Pre-installed on each Vintage electro-acoustic guitar throughout the Vintage
range, the Sonicore® pickup provides an acoustically accurate and full-toned
sound source compatible with any playing situation.
The Presys Onboard Preamp Systems are designed and built to offer maximum control, performance and quality in a small, unobtrusive
format. With three models, the Presys, Presys+ and Presys Blend models, the compact sophisticated Presys system features Volume,
Bass, Mid and Treble controls, a Phase button, and a built-in tuner with LED display. Presys also includes a pre-wired Fishman

One guitar name which created a real stir in acoustic guitar circles
following its introduction back in the 1970’s, and which was
available into the mid to late 1980’s, was that of Paul Tebbutt’s
Pilgrim brand.
A UK company - based in Leicestershire, Pilgrim’s small-scale
production ensured that the guitar’s premier quality construction
was always the prime focus, even if it did mean that production
levels never ran into big numbers.
The impressive performance ensured that Pilgrim guitars gained
cult status amongst players of the time, garnering many accolades
and awards, and are still sought after today.
Pilgrim guitars featured the then-innovative method of guitar
building, mating a meticulously-selected solid cedar top to a
contoured fibreglass back to produce the ultimate blend of tonal
excellence, function, and form.
‘Pilgrim by Vintage’ keeps the spirit of those pioneering early Pilgrim
guitars alive, with a narrow waist accentuating the pronounced
body curves, the use of selected close grain cedar tops, premium
quality timbers for the neck and fingerboard, and a superb overall
build quality to achieve stunning looks, easy playability, projection
and superlative tone.
Sound, just like light, and can be focussed to accent certain mixes
of fundamental frequencies and harmonics.
The specially formulated fibreglass bowl recipe, and mathematically
calculated curved surfaces of the Pilgrim bowl project the full
strength and majesty of the instrument far beyond the player.
Following the designs of the original, we use a slightly narrower
than standard shallow profile, electric guitar-style neck and low
profile frets, maintaining the well-deserved reputation for versatility,
speed, comfort and responsiveness in the hands of any player.
Whether being played fingerstyle, or plectrum, this contemporary
version stays true to the original, and offers a responsive and
luxurious playing experience.
The original designer, Paul Tebbutt, is a man for whom quality and
perfection remains of prime importance.
An accomplished musician, guitarist and singer, Paul has always felt
that his instruments should reflect the lives of the musicians who
play them, and enhance their overall playing experience.
Paul has distilled his many years of producing and playing into his
vision for the new generation of Pilgrim Guitars.
Pilgrim by Vintage continues the tradition of setting a benchmark in
electro acoustic performance, with the factory fitted Fishman
Sonicore pickup and Presys+ pre amp providing the perfect medium
to ensure that the rich, powerful and very focussed Pilgrim sound is
faithfully transmitted to any amplification system or recording desk.
Paul Tebbutt’s new creation, Pilgrim by Vintage faithfully recreates a
cult slice of UK guitar history, and is destined to become a modern
classic.
