At present the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology is
located on Yu. Slovatskiy Street, 2. It is a part of the scientific-educational Institute
of medical and biological problems and occupies 5 rooms for students. It also has the
laboratory for microbiological and parasitological researches, which is equipped with
modern equipment for educational, diagnostic and scientific researches. The technical
base of the Department is improved on the regular basis.
Teaching work at the Department
The students of the three Faculties including Medical (the 2nd -3rd year),
Pharmaceutical and Dentistry study at the Department. The students of the
Educational-Scientific Institute of Nursing study microbiology with the fundamental
virology, immunology and microbiological diagnostics. Teaching is conducted in
three languages: Ukrainian, Russian and English. The methodical instructions for
practical lessons and students’ self-training materials are regularly renovated.
Educational films “Experimental Infection”, “Infection of Chicken Embryos”,
“Staphylococci Lethal Toxin” and other were made. The textbooks for higher
medical educational establishments “Microbiology, Virology, Immunology”,
“Medical Biology”, “Practical Microbiology”, “Immunology”, methodical manual
“The main microorganisms – causative agents of human diseases”, “Causative
Agents of Virus Hepatitis”, “Adenovirus, Herpes-viruses”, “Immunology” were
published. The educational and test program on CD “Microbiology, Virology,
Immunology” was completed. The texts of lecture materials in English and the
guidelines for students were published as well. Methodical instructions for practical
classes are regularly renovated, improved and published.
