Personal Statement
Since qualifying as a make-up artist, I have built upon my artistic and business skills
expanding to hair styling as well as private tutoring. Working freelance has allowed me to
learn how to be organised, promoting myself and my work. Last April I completed an evening
course in marketing & PR with Dublin Business School, which provided a more formal
business qualification to back up the experiences gained over the years. I am self-motivated,
friendly, innovative and enjoy meeting new people.
Work Experience:
Editorial & Magazine/Print:
Working as part of different creative teams has taught me the importance of being able to take
direction as well as using my own intiative and creative vision. My work has appeared in the
following publications: Image (as a featured make-up artist), Irish Tatler, The Gloss, Confetti
(front cover & 6 pages spreads), U Magazine, Kiss, Hotpress, Mongrel, and Pregnancy &
Infant (front cover& feature). Alongside editorial work I’ve also done human interest features
for Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some the
top creative talents including photographers such as Conor Horgan, Andreas Petterson and
Agatha Stoinska as well as models Glenda Gilson, Alison Canavan, Nikki Bonnass and
Andrea Roache.
Fashion Shows/Events:
Shows and events are a pressured, time-critical environment where it is key to work as part of
a team to produce the best possible results for the designer or event respectively. Shows I’ve
been involved in include:

Show with Grainne Seoige as well fashion suppliments for Xpose, Ireland AM and Off The
Rails. This year I’ve been working with the studio team for live online music performaces by
acts like Jedward & The Riptide Movement for MUZU.TV.
Film/Video:
Working on King Arthur afforded me the opportunity to use a variety of special effect makeup techniques, other film work includes “Luka” (a short film) which was short listed for an
oscar award. I’ve also worked with bands such as John Shelly & The Creatures and Sleep
Thieves for their music video accompanying the single “City Lights”.
Advertising/Commercial:
This includes billboards for Guinness and Lucozade, marketing campaigns for Godfathers
Pizza, Kitten Soft, Heatons, Unislim and Tesco as well as promotional shoots for Tesco (with
Ronan O’Gara), viral internet marketing for Nokia (in association with the Take That concert
at the O2 ) and full advertising shoots for Focus Ireland, Juvi Jewellery, Pat Whyte
Accessories and Vivien Walsh Jewellery.
Teaching:
The Make-up Room (closed in 2009) ran courses in make-up and hairstyling. I helped to
create, run and promote the original editorial hair-styling course. This was the first course of
its kind in Ireland with each class comprised of 12 students. Courses required the creation and
examination of a specific set of lectures. I enjoyed teaching very much and gained many
useful skills such as person management, presentation skills, public speaking & scheduling
techniques. Currently I do private make-up lessons from my home.
Wedding Make-up:
A specialised field in make-up artistry itself, working with a brides requires you to be able to
really listen in order to create something unique to them but that will also work well in any
light and with any kind of photography. I’ve worked with hundreds of brides, acquiring
techniques for long lasting beautiful make-up that needs no re-touching.
