Chemical weathering changes the chemical properties of the rock. 12 Erosion is the transportation of rock sediments 13 Wind, running water, glaciers, waves, and gravity 14 Deposition is where the rock sediments get laid to rest. 15 Contact metamorphism happens when rocks come in close quarters to magma plumes. Regional metamorphism occurs in greater areas deep in the Earth’s crust. 16 Mafic igneous rocks are darker in color, contain heavier elements like iron, and denser. Felsic igneous rocks are lighter in color, contain lighter elements like silicon, and less dense. 17
