Newspaper Page Project for Mystery Book
Due Date: November 21
You must read a novel at your reading level. If you are unsure if the book is at your reading
level be sure to check with me right away. As you read, take notes of the important details and
events from the story. You should also keep track of the setting and characters in your book.
As you read, take notes of the important details of the story so that you are able to give a
complete written summary. Make sure that you know the setting (the time and place of the
story), the characters (the names of the main and secondary characters), and the plot (the main
story line and important events) of your mystery.
At the end of the project you will be creating a newspaper page. Your page needs to include
the title of your book as the title of the paper. Don’t forget to include the author’s name, your
name, and the current date. Create sections on the page for a list of characters, setting, and 15
vocabulary words. The vocabulary words need to be listed and defined. The remaining sections
on the page should be dedicated to the important details of the story. Each event from the story
should have its own title. The page should have at least two illustrations. I will be providing the
paper for you to use.
You must keep this paper to be turned in before your presentation or you will lose five
percentage points off your score. You must also have your parent/guardian read and sign this
sheet or you will lose five percentage points off your score. If there is something that you do not
understand about this project talk to me immediately.
