Amnesty International is looking for a Global Fundraising Specialist in Telemarketing. The role is based in our newly formed Global Fundraising Support Team at the Amnesty International Secretariat (AIIS). We provide strategic support to AI sections to deliver effective growth strategies aiming to increase the number of people supporting us and the amount of money that is raised. Telemarketing (TM) has been identified as a key opportunity for AI to grow its supporters and income, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the realization of this potential.

The location of the job is flexible either at the AIIS in London or at a European AI section.

Job description

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious fundraiser to help make Amnesty International the best fundraising telemarketers in the world. We need someone with big ideas who can influence, plan and train our colleagues around the globe in telemarketing best practice.

To be successful in this crucial role you will need to be ambitious, willing to travel and show you understand the unique role telemarketing has in the fundraising mix. You will have worked extensively with telemarketing in your career and will be able to demonstrate how you have used it to grow fundraising income for a NGO.

The Fundraising Specialist for TM will be the lead focal point for the development of TM monthly donor recruitment programs, upgrading and retention programs which will drive the income growth from individual donors. The post provides strategic advice, technical fundraising expertise, advice on investments; guidance on managing TM recruited donors and techniques to maximize their income through more efficient processes.

AIIS campaigns for meaningful human rights change; enables effective human rights activism and works to persuade governments and other actors to uphold universal human rights standards. We provide strategic leadership, support and advice to the Amnesty International movement globally, fostering Amnesty

International's contribution, presence and public accountability throughout the world.

Key duties and responsibilities

 Work with Fundraising Support and fundraising staff in sections and structures and the Regional Offices to develop and perfect AI’s TM programs. This includes the provision of hands-on support.

 Support in local agency selection or the recruitment, management of in-house teams and assessment of applications for Fundraising Investment Fund applications.

 Track the global development of TM inside and outside AI, especially maintaining relationships with key

TM agencies. Ensure continuous local testing, collate learning’s and apply to our programs to maximise results. Keep in touch with industry experts and keep track of competitor activities. Develop relationships with external experts and engage as relevant if workload becomes excessive.

 Advise on global investment allocation and local requests to maximize ROI on investments and donor recruitment. Assist with creation of investment request forms.

 To provide advice and expertise on post-acquisition payment processing and donor communications.

 Relating to knowledge management, bring together and facilitate communications between those doing face-to-face in AI, via Skillshares, workshops, social media, and Skills base on the intranet and on an adhoc basis. Create and share global resources – e.g. scripts, presenters, best practice manuals.

 Work alongside other fundraising specialists to achieve efficient strategic and tactical intervention in markets, supporting them in their income growth from individual donors.

 In addition to these duties, the incumbent will also provide support to markets in the event of a significant media-driven campaign or action. Furthermore, the post holder will remain sensitive to risk in the programs that he/she is supporting, and escalate as necessary

Required Skills and Experience

Experience

 Proven hands-on experience and success in planning, developing and delivering TM fundraising projects, identifying key success indicators and setting and justifying benchmarks for performance

 Proven experience in training of fundraisers

 Experience of developing long term plans for TM fundraising programmes including long term attrition

 Experience of developing and using monitoring and analysis tools for fundraising or marketing activity

 Experience of managing agency and/or consultancy relationships

 Excellent understanding of budgeting, performance management and pay schemes.

 Ability and willingness to positively and proactively contribute to team dynamics and to the team achieving its goals and objectives

 Willingness and ability to undertake travel if required

Desirable - it would be an advantage to have the below:

 An understanding of legislation affecting Telemarketing

 Experience of negotiating contracts and enforcing contractual terms with TM agencies.

 Experience in diverse markets.

 Experience in both agency and charity environments.

 Experience of integrated multi-channel fundraising.

 Experience in other pledge fundraising and lead generation channels.

Technical Knowledge:

 Proven ability to coordinate complex programs and work with senior level management.

 Thorough and current knowledge of TM trends

 Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and to establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.

 Demonstrated ability to devise, plan, develop and implement strategies and projects.

 Proven ability to deliver to targets and demonstrated experience of results-based management.

 Demonstrated ability to innovate and communicate ideas effectively.

 Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple priorities.

 Strong analytical, negotiating and communication skills.

 Strong presentation skills
