Summary of changes to the dataloggers at the CUES Site.

Cues #1 Logger – Now the Radiometer/PropVane Winds/WS600 Datalogger.

Radiomters: First we removed the Incoming Solar PSP radiometer and the

ShadowBand PSP radiometer. We are now depending on the SPN1 radiometer for both of these measurements, SPN1 Total incoming Radiation measurement and the

SPN1 Diffuse measurement. The SPN1 Radiometer was moved to the Radiometer stand where the Incoming PSP used to sit. All Eppley Radiometers were replaced with newly calibrated Radiometers.

Table Name: Radiometers . All except for “sun” measurement is a 1 minute average based upon 1 second readings

Sun: Boolean, 0 if Sun is down, 1 or -1 if Sun is up (Based upon SPIN1 Total radiometer measurement).

PSP.

Table Name: Winds. Measurements are one minute “averages” based upon 1 second readings.

PV_WindSpeed : Mean horizontal wind speed, m/sec.

PV_WiondDir : Unit vector mean wind direction, degrees.

PV_SD_WndDir : Standard deviation of wind direction. Standard deviation is calculated using the Yamartino algorithm. This option complies with EPA guidelines for use with straight-line Gaussian dispersion models to model plume transport.

Table Name: WS600Weather . The instrument samples every minute, except for wind speed.

AirTemp: Air Temperature, degrees C

RelativeHumidity: Rh in %

AirPressure: Air Pressure (at Station, NOT corrected to sea level) in mb.

WndDir_vct: Wind direction, degrees, sampled every 10 seconds?, one minute average.

Wind_Quality: The quality of wind measurements (0 – 100 %), the closer to 100% the better the measurements.

Table Name: WS600Rain . Rain data from the WS600 instrument

PrecipTypeNum: Precip type reported by number, 60 = liquid, 70 = Solid, and zero = no precip.

PrecipType: Precip type reported by word. Solid, Liquid, None, Error. Error indicated that a valid precip number was not reported.

PrecipIntensity: The intensity of precip during the last minute in mm/hr.

Precip_1_min: The precip that fell in the last minute (measure of Liquid equivalent) in mm.

Precip_15: The precip that has fallen since the since the last even 15 minute interval in mm. Reset to zero on the even 15 minute interval.

Precip_24: The precip that has fallen since MidNight in mm. Reset to zero every midnight.

Table Name: Daily

Ignore this table for now.

Cues #2 Logger – The Soil, Snow, Weather Data datalogger.

Not many changes on the instruments hooked up to this datalogger were changed.

We removed the Snow Pillow from the site and from the data stream. We removed the BIG Lycimeter from the site, but it is still included in the datalogger program, it will just read zero. And we added a temperature probe to the inside of the Lidar

Case to measure its temperature. We also traded out the Soil Moisture probes with newer ones that are now in tubes. We also updated the Snow Depth pinger offsets by adding 23 to the Remote Boom Snow Pingger offset (now 617) and 21 to the

Platform Boom pingger offset (now 619) – the Windmast pingger offset did not need to be changed (offset = 578).

Table Name: Melt – has Lycimeters and Soil Moisture probes. Outputs Lycimeter counts and Average Soil Moisture data every 15 minutes.

T_Bucket1: Melt Water (in Liters) that has passed through Lycimter #1 during the past 15 minutes. (Note: the number of liters equals the number of counts * 0.08)

T_Bucket2: Melt Water (in Liters) that has passed through Lycimter #2 during the past 15 minutes. (Note: the number of liters equals the number of counts * 0.08)

T_Bucket3: Melt Water (in Liters) that has passed through Lycimter #3 during the past 15 minutes. (Note: the number of liters equals the number of counts * 0.08)

.

.

.

T_Bucket8: Melt Water (in Liters) that has passed through Lycimter #8 during the past 15 minutes. (Note: the number of liters equals the number of counts * 0.08)

T_Bucket9: Ignore this number, Lycimeter is no longer available.

S_Soil_M10cm: South Soil Moisture measurement at 10 cm in mVolts. See manual for conversion to Soil Moisture Content (or contact kerry).

S_Soil_M20cm: South Soil Moisture measurement at 10 cm in mVolts. See manual for conversion to Soil Moisture Content (or contact kerry).

S_Soil_M30cm: …

S_Soil_M40cm: …

S_Soil_M60cm: …

S_Soil_M100cm: South Soil Moisture measurement at 10 cm in mVolts. See manual for conversion to Soil Moisture Content (or contact kerry).

Table Name: RH_Temperatures – All items are One Minute sampled measurements.

PlatRh: Relative Humidity reading on Platform in %.

PlatTemperature: Air Temperature (degrees C) measured on top of the platform

SnowTemp1: Temperature of the 107 probe marked #1 for placing in the snow pack.

.

BAD.

CUES #3 Logger: Sonic Anemometer Readings – No changes were made to the Sonic Anemometer or Sonic Logger hookup or data output.
