EFSA HIGHLIGHTS 22 January 2013 Over the past 10 to 15 years, beekeepers have been reporting unusual weakening of bee numbers and colony losses. No single cause of this decline has been identified, but several contributing factors have been suggested. These include the effects of intensive agriculture and pesticide use, starvation and poor bee nutrition, viruses and invasive species, genetically modified plants, and environmental changes. Why are bees under threat? News EFSA publishes provisional grants and procurement list EFSA has published a provisional list of projects that it plans to put out for tender in 2013 under its grants and procurement programme.
