Rimini, 2nd August 2007 - MONDO NATURA, the leading Italian expo for open-air tourism will inaugurate edition number
14, being staged at Rimini Fiera on September 8th.
The show - which ends on Sunday 16° - opens with an eagerly awaited event: The INAUGURAL PRESS
CONFERENCE BY RIMINI FIERA – MOTORCARAVAN MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION, ANFI (at 10.30 am in
the Diotallevi Room 1 - Centre Foyer, South entrance). There will be a highly qualified table of speakers:
- Lorenzo Cagnoni - Chairman, Rimini Fiera
- Stefano Campanelli - Chairman, Motorcaravan Manufacturers Association
- Mauro Guglielmini - Vice Chairman, Motorcaravan Manufacturers Association
- Domenico Raffone - Business Manager, ACNielsen Italia
- Valentino Valentini – Chairman, Città del Vino
- Pino Galeota - Chairman, Culture Committee of Rome Municipality
- Vincenzo Borgomeo - Editorial manager, Motori “La Repubblica”
As can be seen, this year, a qualified representative of AC-Nielsen will take part, describing the survey carried out by
the prestigious institute on behalf of the Motorhome Manufacturers Association. A survey that shows that motorhomes
are increasingly becoming a lifestyle that knows no frontiers, adopted by three million people in Europe. More
specifically, in Italy 827,000 people aged over fourteen travel by motorhome.
The traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony for “Mondo Natura” and “Luoghi” on the other hand will be held at
noon (Centre Foyer, South entrance) with the participation of the Authorities and the Press.
Simone Castelli, Sales Manager of the MONDO NATURA business unit, says, “In a world that seems increasingly
penalized as far as environment preservation is concerned, there’s an on-going search for natural vacations.”
An army of fans of this type of tourism finds the Rimini show the ideal place for discovering new products, updating,
meeting other enthusiasts and deciding what to buy.
MONDO NATURA is therefore a natural showcase for this world and a mouthpiece for stimulating thought. Up until
recently considered as a means of alternative tourism, motorhomes, caravans and tents have begun to assert
themselves, with an identity that is not only independent, but also has an increasingly high profile. MONDO NATURA
has set itself the goal of being the expo that accompanies this on-going expansion. An objective that has been fully
accomplished: the upward trend continued in 2006.
Project manager Gabriella Zoni adds, “We must remember that the last edition ended after being attended by 119,351
visitors (11.4% more than 2005), of whom 3,073 were from abroad (22.2% up on the previous edition), with 400
exhibiting firms occupying 110,000 square metres. There was also a boom as far as the media was concerned: 345
journalists (265 in 2005), of whom 10% were from abroad, were accredited in the press room.”
MONDO NATURA is therefore a great trade fair event, but also the expression of the right to intelligent
vacations, as a conquest of a society not content to follow the mass. Recreation vehicles are at the heart of this process
and in the modern halls of Rimini Fiera have what Raffaele Jannucci (one of Europe’s best-known and most read
journalists) suggestively described as “the auditorium of open-air vacations”.
On show in 2007: motorhomes, caravans, pickups, small prefabricated homes, trailers, accessories and electronic
components, tents, accessories, clothing and instruments for outdoor vacations, tourist promotion, services; trade
press….
MONDO NATURA 2007 will also host the third edition of the “LUOGHI” (Places) show, dedicated to “new vacation”
tourists.
LUOGHI participants will be towns, villages, parks, mountain communities, nature reserves and thematic routes, as well
as Regions, Provinces, Local Tourist Boards, “Roads of Flavours” (gourmet itineraries)…. LUOGHI has the sponsorship
of the ANESV AGIS (National Association of Travelling Show Owners and Permanent Italian Parks), ANCI (National
Association of Italian Municipalities), Emilia Romagna Regional Government - Tourism Department, the Italian Touring
Club, FEDERPARCHI (Italian Federation of Parks and Nature Reserves), UNICEM (National Union of Mountain
Community Municipalities), UNIONPARCHI (Union of Italian Recreation Parks) and UNPLI (National Union of Local
Tourist Boards).
MONDO NATURA is organized directly by Rimini Fiera, with the sponsorship of the APC-ANFIA.
Stefano Campanelli, Chairman of the Motorcaravan Manufacturers Association – ANFIA, comments, "For some
time we have been privileged partners of this expo, and have renewed our firm support in 2007 too. As well as being an
important business event, at which over 400 companies present new products, MONDO NATURA is the major
opportunity for networking and information on issues connected with a different kind of tourism – dynamic and
environment-friendly. The meeting ground is fertile, every year there is an increase in attendance figures, a sign of an
increasingly numerous community of motorhome buffs, with whom we believe discussions are really effective for
contributing to ensuring the best response to their requirements."

In Italy, the caravanning market consolidated the closing balance sheet of the 2005 business year with 14,803 new
vehicles registered: a growth rate of 5.4% compared to 2004. ANFIA estimates foresee 2006 ending with 14,300 new
registrations, with a slight drop in demand, which could essentially be put down to changes of all the new mechanics.
Starting from 2007, after overcoming the phase of new product introduction, a new period of expansion is expected.
The motorcaravan market’s national trend has grown at an exponential rate over the last ten years. It is sufficient to
consider that, while newly registered motorhomes totalled 4,726 in 1995, new registrations exceeded 14,800 vehicles
just 10 years later. The main driving force behind this growth was the dynamic business acumen of the manufacturers
that are members of the Camper Manufacturers Association -ANFIA, who through the years have willingly invested in
product research, as well as the promotion of a new life style.
Deeply renewed and strengthened as far as its association identity is concerned, at present the APC-ANFIA has thirty
Italian and foreign member firms, involved in the sector. Thanks to the important trade chain collaboration with
ASSOCAMP and the major motorhome associations, as well as with the ANCI National Association of Italian
Municipalities, motorhome tourism is now an increasingly widespread situation and is now rightly part of the most
innovative avant-garde travelling styles.
