The past must be preserved

At the conclusion of the Egyptian unit students were asked to reflect on their learning and
state why they believed the past must be preserved, following the same persuasive structure as
their report on historical sites. Some responses are listed below.
The past must be preserved because without the past we are nothing. Everything in the future or present is
based on the past. For example Egypt has many monuments which rival today’s modern buildings like the
pyramids of Giza. If we can learn from the past we can make the future better.
Shadoofs today aren’t much but they have given ideas to oil rigs, cranes and even more. Without
shadoofs or the past it would be even harder to accomplish anything.
The Egyptians used the silt which came from the Nile, the silt is even better than modern day
fertilizer. If it wasn’t for the past we wouldn’t have knowledge and like the saying goes, knowledge is power,
or in other words information that runs today’s modern day cities was learned from the past.
The past must be preserved. I have given you reasons why the past must be preserved. Without
shadoofs no modern day cranes would be made. Without the silt we couldn’t make the great crops we have
now. Without the pyramids we wouldn’t have reasons to better ourselves in buildings and in many other
things. The past must be preserved. ~ Liam
Why should we preserve the past? Memories, unanswered questions and information are all reasons. I
believe that we should preserve the past for many reasons
Preserving the past allows us to hold onto memories. Preserving monuments triggers memories
about the history, discovery and meaning of this object. With no elements preserved, we could not only be
losing that object, but many memories as well.
Unanswered questions can linger around objects. If the past isn’t preserved, then some questions
wont be answered and stay like this forever. This is why we should preserve the past.
If we don’t preserve the past, we lose information. By letting a monument be destroyed, we may
miss out on an opportunity to learn more about Egypt .we must preserve the past for this reason.
Now that you have seen my reasons, you should be convinced that we should preserve the past. If we
allow monuments to be destroyed, we will miss out on the information of a unique culture. ~ Alex
I believe that the past should be preserved for the following reasons. We should always remember people or
cultures that changed your life or Evan the world, for example: What is enduring about Egyptian culture.
People remember the pyramids because of the fine touch and perfection/size without using technology or
modern day tools.
Another thing of recognition about the ancient Egyptian culture is the detail in their wall drawings
and Hieroglyphics in the tombs.
People who mean a lot to you and then pass away should never be forgotten. For example my great
grandmother meant a lot to me and she passed away and I will never forget her.
By now I must have persuaded you that you should preserve the past. ~ Jack
Ancient Egypt’s many wonders are among the world’s most impressive. Artefacts taken from Egypt should
be returned, by force if necessary. These marvellous treasures belong in a museum to be enjoyed by the
world.
Private collectors often obtain artefacts illegally. Collectors should be forced to hand over anything
of value, to the Cairo museum. Artefacts are important because it reminds us of the achievements and
sacrifices people made. Which is why artefacts from stolen from Egypt should be returned. ~ Callum
