What did we decide in our school council meeting? 1. Mrs Maiden from ‘Shadwell in Bloom’ was invited to attend our meeting Mrs Maiden explained that ‘Shadwell in Bloom’ works with volunteers. They try to make the village look as nice as it can by growing plants in flower beds around the village. Mrs Maiden would like to work with children in school to make some of our areas bright and colourful. Mrs Maiden suggested starting a gardening club; she would like to work with the Year 5 children first and later children from different year groups. This would start on Wednesday lunch times after half term in February. The children would have their lunch then meet with Mrs Maiden at 12.30pm Mrs Kennett has said she would like to join the gardeners as well. This means 8 children could be in the first group. Year 5 volunteers: Only volunteer if you are committed to a minimum of three weeks gardening activities. 2. What is happening in school? Yuppie is coming back to see us as a ‘working guide dog’ Yuppie is now a working dog and lives with his owner Helen. She has asked if we would like to hear about the difference Yuppie has made to her life. As a School Council we voted to decide if this was a good idea. Everyone voted ‘Yes’ Mrs Wilson will arrange for Yuppie to come into school on the 8th February. 3. Enterprise The profits have not been spent yet. Ethos statements for our school We like to think of our school as one big happy family. We look after the younger children and help them to enjoy school as well as learn, we always encourage people to look after themselves through healthy choices, e-safety days and anti-bullying week. We would like to have an ethos statement for each week but we would like the ethos statements to be written by the children. Eg. When you smile someone will smile back I never give up even when it gets tough I treat others in the way I like to be treated If you haven’t got anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all Write your ethos statement on a post it note and give it to your school councillors. Remember to: Read out these minutes to your classmates so they know what is going on in school and how together we are helping to make it a better place. Colour or tick each smiley face to show you have shared each point with your class. Bring your folder to each meeting. Together we make a brilliant school Thank you, Mrs Wilson
