GENERAL WEEKEND CAMP KIT LIST
Large rucksack or large hold-all
Note: Rucksack or hold-all to be lined with large plastic bag (e.g. black dust-bin bag) to keep clothes dry. Clothes to
be packed in smaller plastic bags (this ensures that everything is ‘double-bagged’ to ensure waterproofing.
Sleeping bag (in stuff-sack, or even better, in a compression sack)
Thermal sleeping mat
Waterproof jacket
Waterproof trousers (optional, but recommended)
Warm hat
Warm gloves
Boots
Trainers
‘Camp shoes’ (e.g. sandals, flip-flops, plimsoles or similar)
Warm fleece or jumper + spare
Long sleeved shirt + spare
T-shirt + spare
Long trousers + spare (NOT jeans)
Shorts
Swimming trunks (or extra shorts)
Under-wear
Socks, including thick socks for boots
Hanker-chief
Nightwear (T-shirt & shorts/pajamas)
Torch plus spare batteries and bulb (LED head-torches are perhaps the best)
Day-sack (for day-trips)
Uniform (Shirt, trousers, belt & knecker)
Coat-hanger
Wash kit (soap/shower-gel, shampoo, sponge/flannel, deodorant, brush/comb, tooth brush & tooth paste)
Medium bath towel
High-factor sun-cream
Sun-glasses
Sun-hat
Insect repellant
Tea towel
Unbreakable plate, bowl, mug
Knife, fork, spoon
Medication – as required
Plastic bags (to separate dirty/wet clothes from clean things)
Be proactive – look at the weather forecast for the weekend and choose your clothing accordingly. If its
forecast to be cold and wet, bring more warm clothing and less summer things. Conversely, if its forecast
to be really hot and sunny, bring more summer things and less warm stuff. But remember, even after a
really hot and sunny day, it may still be very cold in the evenings.
