Date: January 15, 2013 To: ISO/IEC/IEEE 21451-001 WG Attn: WG Members Thank you for your participation in the WG kick-off meeting of this Standard. First of all, the designation of this recommend practice has been changed from "P1451.001" to "P21451-001" to stay consistent with ISO/IEC and IEEE. A “2” was added at the beginning and the “.” was changed to “-“. The purpose of this document is to help us to organize the tasks inside this working group. We are proposing fewer subgroups than it was suggested in the first meeting. You can join one or more subgroups depending on your area of interest in this standard. We also need to know if you would like to lead a subgroup. In the case that more than one wants to assume this role, a shared leadership could be confirmed or chosen based on experience. We want subgroups to interact with each other, so we need a leader in each subgroup to coordinate activities. We live in an interconnected world and it will be more and more interconnected smart devices and systems. Standards will be defined in the IoT (Internet of Things) in order to identify things and share meaningful information. Data flow will be unmanageable unless only processed information or knowledge can be shared. Sensors are an important subset of things; almost every device has sensors embedded. There are great amounts of processing resources inside transducers and we are doing few things, in a standardized way, with the sensor signal. A lot of work is underway to define how to exchange information between things, but what is missing is to define WHAT we need to exchange. It is a good idea to work in the future in Internet of Things, where our work in sensor signals will be very important. The second web meeting is proposed to be held in February/March. The objective for this second meeting will be to consolidate the subgroups and to discuss issues related to them. We will use a web-based platform (Central Desktop) to interchange info, news and documents. Thank you once again for your cooperation. SG4 New and learning algorithms and user defined application code SG2 Interface with IEEE Coordination subgroup IES &IMS Depending on the number of participants the subgroups will work in parallel or sequentially 1451 standards and data structure SG3 Filtering, signal SG5 Testing compression and prediction SUBGROUPS OBJECTIVES: SG1 To define, propose, and validate first layer algorithms based on MCT vectors. Review the initial proposal, modify it and suggest changes. SG2 To define and coordinate commands and data structure consistently with IEEE 1451 standards. Review and propose a time synchronization scheme for data. Normalize name of variables and data. SG3 To define, review and propose algorithms based on MCT vectors and first layer outputs for filtering, signal compression and prediction. SG4 To propose new algorithms that the group considers that they must included. Define the data structure for embedding user defined application code and pattern learning algorithms. SG5 To test and validate proposed algorithms using simulation software (MatLab, Octave, Scilab…) and C code for microcontrollers.
