Dr Karl Lintner was announced as the winner of in-cosmetics Lifetime Achievement award and Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine also presented their R&D Awards. Neodermyl® is a pure source of bio-renewable energy that reactivates collagens and elastin synthesis in the skin to reenergise senescent fibroblasts by supplying them with an activated source of cellular energy. This results in a fast and sustainable production of Collagen III, Collagen I, Tropoelastin and Elastin, which lead to visible improvement of skin texture and reduction of wrinkle depth in two weeks. In just two weeks Neodermyl® gives equivalent results to one needle injection of collagen by a plastic surgeon (-15% wrinkle depth reduction). The judges applauded Induchem for its scientific innovation in the development of Neodermyl®, the use of green chemistry and the demonstrated efficacy of the ingredient that offers real benefits in formulation. Celebrating the award, Fabrice Lefèvre, R&D and Marketing Director, Induchem said: “Our R&D and marketing teams have worked incredibly hard to create Neodermyl®, a product we’re extremely proud of. The other finalists this year all had fantastic products, so to have been recognised with this prestigious award is a real honour. 2013 has so far been a very productive year for us and we look forward to the future.” Now in its third year, The Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award recognises the development of a novel active or functional ingredient that demonstrates newly welcomed benefits to manufacturers and end-users. Exhibitors and visitors congregated at the Marketing Trends Theatre for the winners’ announcement. Silver prize went to Symrise with SymHair® Force 1631, a natural anti-hair loss active from a sustainable source of Microalgae that fortifies hair whilst improving density. The judges were especially impressed with the ingredient’s proven ability to increase hair shaft elongation by up to 13%. BiotechMarine was awarded bronze for its new anti-dandruff ingredient, ESCULANE® – a natural active ingredient of marine origin – and was recognised for its important work into the condition that, despite regularly being studied by scientists all over the world, is yet to be fully understood. Lucy Gillam, Event Director, in-cosmetics, said of the awards: “The quality and innovation on show by this year’s finalists made it a challenge to decide upon an overall winner. We’d like to congratulate everyone who entered this year and very much look forward to seeing all of the ingredients going from strength to strength in the future.” Entries were judged by a panel of industry experts including: Claudie Willemin, Présidente, Société Française de Cosmétologie (SFC) Shuliang Zhang, PhD, Clinical Site Leader, Unilever Research & Development Shanghai Prithwiraj Maitra, PhD, Center of Excellence Leader: Cleansing, Hair and Colour Cosmetics, Johnson & Johnson Angela Eppler, PhD, Senior R&D Scientist at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Cosmetics & Toiletries also announced the winners of its R&D Awards with Yves Saint Laurent Beaté taking the Most Creative Application for Youth Liberator Range with Glycanactif™ and Dow Corning the Best New Ingredient for EL-7040 Hydro Elastor Blend.
