Imagine the year is 1929! You have just witnessed one of the fastest moving decades and
experienced all of the new technologies of the 1920s. Your assignment is to choose 3 of
the following topics to research and present. You may choose from Automobiles, Radio,
Film or Refrigerators. You will include one poster, one chart and one short story or
letter. You will be graded according to historical accuracy, creativity and detail.
Poster
You are a graphic designer in the 1920s. Your poster may be in colour or in black and
white. During the 1920s posters included visual images as well as lots of written
information that was intended to convince people of the necessity of a particular item. Be
sure to use at least 5 twenties slang words. You will choose from Automobiles, Radio,
Film or Refrigerators. You must choose a different technology that what you chose to
include in your chart or short story/letter.
Chart
You are to compare a technology of the 1920s to the same technology of today. Create a
T chart to outline the similarities and differences between the technologies. You will
choose from Automobiles, Radio, Film or Refrigerators. You must choose a different
technology that what you chose to include in your poster or short story/letter.
Short Story or Letter
You are writing a letter to a friend who lives far away from you OR you are writing a
short story. You are to describe life in the 1920s, while focussing on one of the following
topics. You will choose from Automobiles, Radio, Film or Refrigerators. You must
choose a different technology that what you chose to include in your chart or poster.
