Mary Kay Party / Creative Outreach Hello fellow Greek ministry pioneers, When I was at Penn State University my Bible study did an outreach to help grow our Bible study and introduce their friends to the gospel. This is a great easy outreach! We all met at a staff persons house and had a Mary Kay beauty consultant do a makeup party for us. It was great for the girls to get away from campus, eat good food, (DESSERT!) and play with makeup. Then before the women ordered info, I gave a quick talk on how beauty is from the inside, out. Here is the talk. – Alice Walters Beauty from the Inside Out 1. 2. 3. 4. Welcome Name Game (creative name game?) Start Mary Kay Make up party About 8:30 start gospel presentation… Gospel Presentation.. Thank you all for coming to our Mary Kay party – thank Kim. We will have time to order stuff after I say I few words. One of our hopes in having this party was for the members of our Bible study to have the opportunity bring their friends to meet us – have a fun time with us- and to check us out. Our Theme ‘ Beauty from the inside out’ was purposely used because we wanted to share with all of you what makes us beautiful from the inside. Makeup does a wonderful job of making us beautiful from the outside. Cover up is the greatest invention ever. It fabulously covers up our blemishes. That pattern though, of covering up our blemishes – can be taken to other areas of our life. When there is pain or hurt – or disappointment - unfulliment with life (which we all experience) often times we try to take cover-up to hide those things up in our heart. I know things I use is busyness – I’m too busy to feel the hurt, or friends – or boys – or even food. But the truth is, that these things can work they are just are temporary. Just like cover-up it washes off – the blemish is still there. Our solutions fade away too. One reason why we wanted to invite you… Our Bible study believes that the only way to completely heal those blemishes and to bring lasting inner beauty to our lives is through a relationship with Jesus Christ. 1 Sam 16:7 “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart”. God wants your heart to be connected to His. The Bible is very clear on how one can do this - God loves us. He loves us so much and he made us. Pslam 139 “For you created me my inmost being….I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful I know that full well. - We are imperfect people. No matter how hard we try – we can’t be perfect. (no matter how much makeup we use we cannot attain Cindy Crawford beauty). That is actually what sin means – missing the mark of perfection. Because God is holy – he cannot mix with sinful people. Like Oil and water… Because God loves us so much he made a way for us to be in an intimate relationship with him. Through his son – Jesus. Because Jesus is perfect you can trust in Him to pay for everything that you have ever done – past present and future. And are offerend the wonderful gift of eternal life. And this is where inner beauty begins…by accepting Jesus into your life – beginning a personal love relationship with him and he promises to heal all the blemishes that you have in your heart.
