Beautiful Women While our world worships physical beauty, the truly attractive woman is the one who emphasizes character and integrity. She knows that enhancing the outer person is not as important as developing wisdom, humility, faith, and love. A woman may have physical beauty, but if she is rude, dishonest, or unfaithful, her character ruins her appeal. Godliness is essential to true beauty. Thus, the wise woman heeds God’s instruction to “not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God” (1 Pet. 3:3-4). No matter what we do to the outer body, it will age, decay, and eventually die. Indeed, the “difficult days” are coming for us all if we are given long life (Eccl. 12:1). No one is exempt from that transformation. And there is no sadder sight than an aged person still chasing the vain pursuits of worldly pleasure. For this reason God says, “The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness” (Pro. 16:31). Special days like Mother’s Day have more meaning when a godly woman is being honored. Her family is able to praise her with genuine appreciation because of the commitment she has shown to them and to the Lord. Consequently, “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.’ Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Pro. 31:28-31). She has invested in a beauty that will not fade away. –Mike Thomas Radio Program on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. on 99.9 F.M. Beaver Dam Church of Christ www.beaverdamchurch.com
