Junk Motor Vehicle By-Law
No person shall keep, or allow to stand exposed to open view from public ways or neighboring
property, on any premises a motor vehicle unlicensed under Chapter 140 Section 59 of the
General Laws.
No person shall keep, in the open, any junk automobiles without a Permit.
A junk motor vehicle is defined as:

A vehicle that is worn out, cast off, or discarded and which is ready for dismantling or
destruction.
A vehicle that has been collected or stored for salvage, or for stripping in order to make
use of parts thereof.
Any parts from such a vehicle shall be considered a junk automobile under this law.
Any vehicle that is not registered with the Registry of Motor Vehicles, with or without an
attached plate issued by the RMV.
The license to keep no more than one (1) junk automobile will cost $35.00 and must be
renewed annually with the Police Department.
