Whittier Elementary Sets High Expectations for 2014-2015
Attendance
SCHOOL –WIDE ATTENDANCE GOAL: 97%
Attendance Incentive #2
Whittier is competing in the second District-wide Attendance Incentive. The grade-level with the
best attendance percentage from November 3-December 5 will participate in “Operation Kingfish.” The
winning grade level will receive a visit from the Kingfish mascot and Elvis Crew; along with Kookies
from Festival Foods!
Only one week left, and the contest is so close! Any grade can win! Good Luck to all grade levels!

First Grade – 91.49%
Second Grade – 89.63%
Third Grade – 92.33%
Fourth Grade – 93.35%

Second Annual Whittier Giving Tree
When our students return to school on Monday, December 1st, there will be a beautifully lit Giving
Tree in our main hallway. We are asking all families to consider donating hats, mittens, gloves, scarves,
and socks to our tree. All of the donations will be shared with children from Whittier and the Shalom
Center.
Outside Supervision in the Morning
We are reminding all Whittier families that supervision outside in the morning starts at 7:15 A.M.
It is very important, especially with the cold weather that families do not drop their child/ren off early
unless it is previously arranged with the teacher. If the temperature is 10 degrees or below or a wind chill
of 0, we will bring the children inside. We begin letting children into the multi-purpose room around
7:15, or when the first bus arrives.
Whittier Webpage Gets a Make-Over
Whittier website is undergoing changes. Although we are still in the process of updating, please
