Magma Ranch March 2013 Principal’s Newsletter Commentary Dear Parents, Spring is just around the corner and we are all eager for spring break intersession. The weather is quite beautiful and it’s the perfect season in Arizona to spend some quality time with your family outdoors before it gets too hot! Spring also signifies the start of “testing season” and like all schools in the state we will be gearing up for annual AIMS (Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards) test for 3rd – 8th grades and the Stanford 10 test for students in 2nd grade. Testing week will be April 15-19, 2013. If at all possible, we are asking that all families help us ensure that we have 100% attendance that week so that we can complete all testing. Attendance and participation impact our overall school rating and we implement special incentives for students that complete AIMS and Stanford 10 testing each year. Please look for more information on our Testing Week Attendance Incentives coming out soon. It will be posted on our web site and April newsletter. F.U.S.D. has begun Kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year. Each K-8 school is offering two types of kinder programming. Half Day Kindergarten is free to all children that turn 5 years old by September 1st. Supplemental Full Day Kindergarten is a fee based program which only costs $125 per month with a $50 non-refundable registration fee. The cost is approximately $7 per day. The Full Day Kindergarten Program is optional and offers a full day of classroom instruction, and electives with certified teachers. Registration for full day kindergarten is available now and on a first come, first served basis. Parents may register in the front office for either program on April 9th and May 7th from 3:45 - 6:00 p.m. Please bring a valid birth certificate, immunization record, photo identification, and proof of residency, such as a utility bill. Please feel free to contact the office with any questions you may have at 520-868-7300. Sincerely, Rebecca Hendry
