GEOGRAPHY OF ASIA, ASSIGNMENT #2 – 50 POINTS
Discussion, research and critical thinking
You are required to choose a country in East or South Asia (exclude China), discuss their
geography, culture, people, economic development and particular position in the “AsiaPacific” rim. EVERYONE must submit a 3 pages (3 are minimum number of pages, you
can give me as many as you can, citied literature should be listed in separate pages),
double-space, 12 font essay. The essay is due by April 13, late assignment is strongly
discouraged, and will be deducted points following the policy set in the syllabus. This is
related with the second small group discussion.
The essay should at least include three parts: the introduction part, the main research and
discussion part, and the conclusion part. Depending on which country of your choice,
related research is highly recommended.

Depth of the exploration of the topic and original/critical thinking
“Geographic-ness” of the analysis (a think of space and geographic differentiation)
Research (e.g. 3 sources vs. 10 sources, quality of the sources)
Accuracy of the factual information presented
Quality of writing and other presentation forms (handwriting pages are not
recommended)
