Peter Balingit joined the Property & Liability Resource Bureau in August of 1993 and is currently the Director of Catastrophe Services, where he oversees the day to day operation of the department and he prepares the continuing stream of catastrophe services information that is made available to both members and affiliates. Peter also authors the Catastrophe Blog, in the weekly PLRB Front Lines newsletter and conducts multiple web based and in-person training classes on the effective use of PLRB Map, as well as the many other PLRB Catastrophe Services resources. Peter graduated cum laude from Mississippi State University, with a B.S. in Geosciences with a concentration in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology. He also holds a Geographic Information Systems Certificate from Penn State University. Peter has the professional designation of Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) through the GIS Certification Institute and is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the National Weather Association, the Illinois GIS Association and the International Association of Emergency Managers.
