Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia Recovery Planning
Deputy Premier, Minister for Transport, Minister for Infrastructure, Local Government and

1. The destructive winds, heavy rainfall and flood events of Tropical Cyclone (TC) Marcia have
had a catastrophic effect on many Queensland communities, with the most severe impacts
centred on Rockhampton, Biloela and Yeppoon.
2. The scale and scope of damage as a result of TC Marcia has seen the activation of the Natural
Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements in the local government areas of Rockhampton,
North Burnett and Gympie Regional Councils and Livingstone and Banana Shire Councils.
3. The proposed Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia Recovery Plan (the Recovery Plan) will provide
strategic guidance for the coordination and management of recovery and reconstruction efforts
and activities undertaken after the event by the Queensland government, local governments,
industry and other stakeholders. The Recovery Plan will help to ensure that impacted
communities recover as quickly as possible.
4. Cabinet approved the development of the Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia Recovery Plan.
