IDEAS LAB SUBMISSION SU2C-TVF Date: Stand Up To Cancer and The V Foundation call upon members of the scientific community to contribute their ideas to The Convergence Research Teams Ideas Lab. We invite applications from junior and senior investigators with a demonstrated background (publications) in biological research to participate in an Ideas Lab to develop research project proposals integrating mathematical and computational approaches and clinical cancer research. Applications may be submitted by investigators from the fields of physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering, and by clinical oncologists with a demonstrated record of translational research. The project proposals developed in the Ideas Lab may be funded up to $4 million dollars over a four-year period. The Ideas Lab will be held from February 13 – 18, 2015. It will be an intensive meeting and set of discussions to develop research proposals employing novel quantitative approaches to the study of clinical cancer data. We expect that the proposals generated will have a large impact on the direction of future research in clinical cancer. Post-doctoral researchers from quantitative backgrounds will be included in the research projects developed, in what will become a model for the mentoring and training of the next generation of quantitative cancer researchers. A review committee will select the individuals invited to participate in the Ideas Lab. After the Ideas Lab and the development of proposals, the review committee will select a minimum of 3 Convergence Research Team Grants from the proposals. Each Convergence Research Team will be awarded up to $4 million over the 4-year term of the grant. Please note: In this call for applicants, SU2C and TVF are not accepting research proposals for grant funding. Rather, we are accepting application for consideration to participate in the Ideas Lab. At the conclusion of the five-day Ideas Lab, a subset of proposals will be selected for submission of full research proposals for further consideration for funding.
