WHAT’S FRESH AT THE GREATER BELHAVEN MARKET, SATURDAYAUGUST 2, 2008
Fresh summer produce abounds at the Market every week, along with incredible gourmet
food specialties and handcrafted items. Buy direct from the producers themselves. You
will also find fresh baked breads and desserts, woodwork, stained glass, quilts, handmade
goat’s soap, jewelry, art and more. The Market booth features free coffee each week,
compliments of HENRY LaROSE REALTORS. Pick up your fresh brewed cup, enjoy
your breakfast under a Market umbrella and enjoy the live music this week provided by
the NOUVEAU STRING BAND (AKA TIM AVALON & FRIENDS).
We had awesome salsa last week and gracious judges. Our thanks to Lois Lovelady-St.
Pe’ and Jason McCleave of WLEZ, 103.7 and Edie Lea, gemologist with Carter’s
Jewelers. Our winners were:

BELHAVEN IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION will headquarter at the Market this
Saturday for their Neighborhood Cleanup Event between 7 and 10 a.m. (look for the
Belhaven Improvement Association tent). Grab some coffee and a donut along with trash
bags and a map of the cleanup area. Cleanup area includes the part of the neighborhood
where Bright Lights, Belhaven Nights will be happening in a couple of weeks - help put
the neighborhood's best "foot" forward for that event! Bring your work gloves and
sunscreen. Consider recruiting a new neighbor or a friend! If you have questions, you
may contact Christine at 601- 750-1779.
CHINQUAPIN FARM will be bringing cucumbers, patty pan squash, zucchini,
heirloom tomatoes, fig preserves, rainbow swiss chard, fresh free range eggs, and all
three tamales with roasted garlic jalapeno cheese grits and fresh salsa. Also pecan
smoked pulled pork by the pound.
FRED GARROT is a new vendor this week. Stop by a see his handcrafted faux finished
cornice boards for windows. They are awesome!
ABBY FARMS will be on hand with fresh organic vegetables and fruit, including
Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers, Blueberries, Salsa, and also Eggs from their happy
chickens. Stop by for samples and pick up a bag of their yummy Abby Farms Granola.
WILD JASMINE will be on hand this weekend and offering their fabulous PAD THAI!!
Stop by for a visit and watch them in action with the fabulous WOK - Check out what
other surprises they have in store for you this week.
WINDHAM’S WOODWORKS is back this week with Steve’s incredible large salad
bowls, peppermills and salad servers along with spoons, cutting boards (small and large),

MOOZART, a member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, will be back with
Molly’s incredible mixed media stained glass art – wind chimes, fan pulls, abstract faces
and more. Be sure and see her newly designed stained glass frogs. They are enchanting!
FLOURS BY CHRIS will be at the Market this week with her delicious home baked
specialties – a variety of breads, rolls and cakes.
FLYING M FARM will have A La Carte limited offerings of certified organic fresh
vegetables. Stop by and visit with Charlie about Flying M Farm's CSA (Community
Supported Agriculture) and about his grassfed beef and lamb. You may email Charlie at

VICKIE GILBERT will be at the Market with her wonderful and fun painted windows.
Stop by and visit with this classic Southern artist, see her creative talents and hear about
her Storybook Cottage!
QUILTS BY ANN will return and will have her quilts of many colors - Wall hangings,
folk art, and different sized bed quilts, including baby quilts. Also, beautiful fresh cut
flowers!
LUMPKIN’S will return to the Market featuring their awesome hickory smoked BarBQ
beef brisket by the pound or on a sandwich. Their Pork Ribs are incredible, too! Stop by
for a sample and a visit with this charming family.
EARCINE EVANS OF FRANCIS FLOWERS & HERBS FARM will be back and
will be bringing her Handmade Organic; Biodynamic Wild crafted Hair & Skin Care
Products.
THE BIRDHOUSE MAN will be back this Saturday with newly designed birdhouses he will have 2, 3, and 4 bedroom condos and college houses along with bird and squirrel
feeders.
STUFFINGS will be back this week with a new offering – New Orleans style Red
Beans. Check out his weekly special sale featuring one of his delicious Stuffed French
Breads. Be sure and stop by for a sample. Paul will also have his tasty sweet breads,
Italian twist breads in addition to his varied selection of frozen breads – spinach and
cheese, muffaloaf, crawfish, and shrimp. Don't forget to pick up a package of his
crawfish sausage. His Cinnamon Coffee Cake, Date Nut Cake and Diabetic Date Nut
Cake are awesome!
SUZANNA MCMAHAN is a new vendor this Market season. Stop by and visit with
this delightful young woman and see her beautiful jewelry creations.
CLEO ROGERS will be on hand this week with her famous caramel cakes, pies,
cupcakes and her unique salsa. Stop by for chat with Cleo – she loves to share samples
of her delicious baked goods and salsa!
HENRY MUSE will attend this Saturday, and will bring his colorful paintings of Cats,
Birds, Musical Pieces, Couples and Angels. Folks may contact him at his in-home studio

PHYLLIS HURLEY will be at the Market this week, in support of UWEC, a non-profit
organization - Uganda Women Empowerment through Crafts. This week Phyllis is
featuring straw hats, caps, woven placements & picture frames. Other offerings include
Noah's Arks for the cloth animals, circle purses, hand-made cloth dolls in traditional
African dress featuring batik and tie-dye. Also wall hangings, decorative balls, woven
fiber baskets and jewelry made of paper and nuts.
CHARLES JENKINS will return with his whimsical art work. Charley is a noted
southern realism artist of line and color with a focus on pastels, watercolors and colored
wax pencils. This week, he will be bringing his white oak baskets and famous dancing
rabbits and turtles.
slm CREATIONS will be there with new jewelry pieces using semi-precious gemstones,
pearls, shell, wood and bone.
PEARSON CERAMICS will be back at the Market with pottery birdhouses and Ineke’s
handcrafted jewelry. For you or the fisherman in your family, talk to Roger about his
hand-tied flies.
