Don't know the first thing about a medium or art in general? If you are a first-time artist or more advanced welcome!.We all start somewhere,
sometime, and these classes will help you master the basics or expand your knowledge. These courses allow students with no previous
experience to explore different media with their peers. Learn new techniques in a no-pressure, supportive environment. Please note that these
classes are open to beginners and intermediate students only. Advanced level classes are available.
Beginning Acrylics
Saturday September 7th & 14th, 1 - 4 pm.
David Otto will explore the basics of working with
acrylic paints.
Materials: Water container (large cool whip or
butter container)
Colors Titanium white, ivory black, cadmium yellow
medium, cadmium red medium, ultramarine blue,
alizarin crimson, burnt umber, burnt sienna and raw
sienna.
Foam plates or paper pallets for color mixing
Pallet knife
Brushes: #6 round, #8 Grumbacher bristlette
filbert, # Oil and acrylic bristle fan (stiff bristles)
8x10 canvas board
Paper towel

Portrait in Proportion for Beginners
Wednesdays Sept. 4th , 11th, 18th & 25th
from 6 - 8:30 pm.
Artist and teacher, Jasn Frank will instruct students
by exploring the basics of portrait theory. Students
will learn how to create more realistic portraits by
focusing on the basics of facial anatomy and
structure. Each class will focus on a different
aspect of portrait theory including instruction on
creating realistic features through perspective,
proportion, and tonal value.
5 students minimum needed to offer the class and
class limited to 10 students. Deadline for sign up
is September 1st. A supplies list will be given upon
registration.

Intro to Portraits
Thursdays, September 5th, 12th, 19th& 26th
11am - 2pm
From full demonstration through basic
construction of the portrait students will learn
the fundamentals of creating a likeness from
life. Hands on approach in a pressure free
environment. Discover the freedom that is only
found in acrylic.

Drawing 101
September 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th
9:30 - 11 a.m. (Elementary Age Students)

Students will learn how to take the basics from line,
to shape then form and add value to make objects
look real. Tricks and techniques will be explored of
how to incorporate value into their drawings to
make objects appear 3D. We will help students
discover how to see what is really there and how to
create those objects on paper.
Materials: Ebony pencil, #2 pencil and drawing
pad 8 1/2" x 11" or larger is required.

Drawing 101 for the Beginner or Refresher
ADULT Thursdays, September 5, 12, 19, 26
9:15 – 10:45 a.m.
This course is an introduction to beginning Art
students to the principles and techniques of
drawing. Students will gain a working knowledge of
line, shape, perspective, proportion, volume, and
composition. Students will learn the art of
observation - of seeing and studying the
relationship of planes while evaluating proportions,
they will acquire the skill to translate these
observations to paper. In black and white media we
will work to strengthen student’s visual awareness
and discrimination.
Materials: Ebony pencil, #2 pencil and drawing
pad 8 1/2" x 11" or larger is required.

This introductory class combines basic drawing
with the fundamentals of painting. It will begin by
introducing the student to line, value and
composition, and how they combine to compose a
successful drawing. They will then use this
experience to see how those visual building blocks
translate into painting, introducing the student to
the basic tools used in acrylic painting, and their
use in composing and executing a painting.
Material list will be provided with registration
Class Fee: $95
Create a holiday card and gift tags. Pen and ink,
watercolor and color pencil will be explored in
creating holiday card(s). Gift tags will be created by
using linoleum printing. Express yourself while
keeping it simple.

Intro to Landscapes

painting process. Learn where to begin and

Explore 4 different mediums today in this approach
to capturing the beautiful fall colors. Pencil, colored

Landscape 2
