Saturday 14th November NEW TIME 2-5pm all main materials provided £36 CANCELLED Learn to do bead weaving lesson 1 - Learn to bead around baubles and make beautiful beaded baubles £28 November 28th 2-5pm – This course will be run by Eileen and is the start of a series of bead weaving courses. We will provide all the main materials including really good quality Czech glass seed beads and baubles , needles etc …. You will make a patchwork cushion, lavender hearts, peg bag and book cover Modular origami bead garland - 7th December 7-9pm £20 These are beautiful –On this course you will learn to fold three flat shapes that can then be slotted inside each other to make beautiful bead like structures that can then form a garland of hanging decoration .I will pre-cut enough pieces of paper for you to make 30 of these beads – 90 pieces of paper. Choose from old books or old paper for a vintage look Crochet round Christmas baubles or stones Wednesday 9th December 7-9pm £20 Please bring a size 1.25 crochet hook and some plain silver or metallic baubles or stones – ask me if you are not sure what to get Hand stitched Christmas cards .Thursday 10th December 7-9pm £20 you will need to bring your sewing machine and a darning foot to this course and we will be hand stitching onto precut cards using bits of fabric beads , buttons and more . Well Kirigami takes it a step further. By using a 6 fold, templates and a pair of very sharp decoupage scissors with thin paper you can create really beautiful shapes …just bring a pair of decoupage scissors – they are small and very sharp £12 Needle felt a robin round decoration Fri 11th 11am – 12.30pm £12 This course will provide a taster in how to do needlefelting . Free patterns and free tuition but please bring acrylic yarn – two balls and a size 5mm hook acrylic because it needs to be machine washed . The nests are going to go to hedgehog rescue in Stockwood Rag rug making – Sat 6th Feb 2-5pm £ 30 Introduction to the technique of rag rug making using a steel hook with a wooden handle that you use to pull loops through the rug enabling you to build up all kinds of interesting designs. You need to prepare for the course by making thin strips of fabric of about ¾ inch wide and as long as you can and bring something to inspire you – check with me first for a better description. You will be making a small beautiful sample piece Experimental textiles Experimental patchwork – break all the rules patchwork . Sewing machine 24th January 2-6pm £36 Just bring a big bag of scrap fabric and bits of ribbon, braid or anything else you fancy and your sewing machine. This is a chance to go wild and do whatever you fancy. You will be shown some techniques and guided through the process Experimental Markal oil paintsticks on fabric 10th Feb 7-9pm £25 – preparing surfaces for embroidery or embellishment using Markel oil paintsticks to create beautiful designs on your fabric. Please bring some pieces of cotton fabric This course is suitable for people who may go on to hand embroider on the designs or for those who wish to use a machine. The fabrics have to be dried for a week and then ironed to fix them before they can be embroidered Experimental couching by hand . Sat 19th March 3-5pm £25 Couching is the art of stitching all kinds of different threads and fibres to the surface of your fabric using a variety of hand stitches – its really fun and interesting designs can be created really quickly. It is also possible to couch using a sewing machine but we will be using hand techniques for the course. You may want to bring things you have prepared in the oil paintsticks sessions. Please bring along any threads you can find or bits of rope, string, ribbon, fibres Experimental drawing with your sewing machine –Sun 21st Feb 3-6pm £36 introducing the basics of freestyle embroidery on your machine – You need a darning foot for your machine and a spring plastic embroidery frame and some pictures or drawings for inspiration ( you could also bring things you have made during the Markal oil paintsticks session - these can be bought from the shop. We will provide fabric and threads Experimental Mirror work 20th Feb – 3-5pm – £25 experimenting with hand stitches to attach mirrors, resin pieces, coins , stones and more to your fabric . Please bring along some patterned fabric you would like to embellish or one of your own pieces ..we will also provide plain calico for practice.
