Teacher: Mrs. Nikki Shippy
Email: nshippy@bssd.net
Plan Time: 10:55a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Phone: 816-224-1330
Course Description: Sewing fun and challenging projects will be the spotlight of this class. It is
rewarding to complete a project that you have made yourself. Students will learn about different
fashion designers, how to care for clothing, along with design concepts used in fashion and
interior design. Students will provide their own fabrics for the class. Cost will vary depending
on personal fabric choices.
Attendance: Attendance is critical to academic success, especially in the sewing lab.
Appointments: If you need to get caught up on work, please schedule a time to come in before
or after school. Advisory is not an ideal time to work on sewing projects.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: After school until 4:15 p.m.
Wednesdays and Fridays: Before School at 7:30 a.m.
Late Work: It is imperative to turn in all assignments in on the designated due date. Remember,
it is easier to stay on track rather than catch up later. Zeros are detrimental to your grade! Partial
credit is better than none! Late work policies will be established on a case by case basis.
Grading Scale: A 100%-90%, B 89%-80%, C 79%-70%, D 69%-60%, F 59% or below
Communication: I believe communication is key! If you are struggling with attendance, grades
or behavior, your parent or guardian will be the first to know. If you have any issues in class,
please bring it to my attention as soon as possible. I am here to help!
