#1 Sewing machines are powered equipment that can be extremely dangerous keep your hands clear of the needle at all times. Always be aware of the up and down movement of the needle and do not turn your attention away from the machine while its running, do not so much as look away. #2 You must follow my instructions for both threading and winding the bobbin for your machine #3 NEVER pull on fabrics they are to be guided through at the front of the needle, MULTIPLE MARKS will be deducted for pulling fabric through as it is incorrect operation of the machine and seriously damages it. If fabric will not feed through turn the machine off and notify the teacher, pulling is never the answer. #4 DO NOT sew over pins, this breaks the needle which can cause harm to the machine or your EYEBALLS! #6 Listen for strange noises from the machine, this tells you something is not working correctly. At the first sign of a problem stop sewing, turn the machine off, and signal for the teacher. #7 Do not miss use the equipment, ensure you are using the appropriate sewing accessories for each respective task set. Do not use sewing scissors on paper as they are sharpened and cut especially for fabric cutting. Use the cutter wheel on the cutting boards provided to you. #8 ALWAYS ensure the presser foot is down before operating the sewing machine, failure to do so will lead to damage to the machine #9 When raising the needle on your machine, YOU MUST ALWAYS TURN THE HAND WHEEL TOWARDS YOU SELF or BACKWARDS … NEVER….. AWAY FROM YOU or FORWARDS. YOU WILL BREAK THE MACHINE!
