Pim Tuyls Mathematics of Secure Key Extraction from Noisy Data Abstract: Recently, there is a lot of interest in key extraction from noisy data. This method plays an important in role in privacy preserving biometric authentication and in the extraction of secure unclonable keys for ICs. Extracting keys from noisy measurements is highly non-trivial. In this lecture we will explain the basic ideas behind the helper data algorithm or Fuzzy extractor that has been developed for this purpose. The ideas will be illustrated with some simple mathematical examples as well as examples from real life.
