SOUNDOWN WATERDROP™ SILENCERS
Soundown Corp., the marine noise control leader,
manufactures and supplies high performance, high quality,
wet marine exhaust silencers for pleasure and commercial
craft applications. For over three decades we have been
inventing, designing and fabricating systems for super
silencing of generators and main propulsion engines in
power and sailing vessels.
Our silencer designs have evolved from the original
inventions of our affiliated engineering company J&A
Enterprises Inc, by Soundown president Joe Smullin in the
early 70’s. The objective of the original design was to
provide a solution to the problem of water splash noise
disturbance caused by the wet, generator exhaust system
discharge. The design has continuously evolved over time to
provide greater noise attenuation performance and
separation of exhaust gases and cooling water.
Today we offer many different configurations of
marine exhaust silencer systems for propulsion ranging to
3600 hp and power generation to 300 kw. The proprietary
Soundown “Waterdrop” family of silencers offers the greatest
silencing at the lowest backpressure in comparison to “off
the shelf” silencer systems. The level of quiet provided by
the Waterdrop silencer exceeds the acoustic performance of
the competition by 10dB for most propulsion exhausts and
up to 20dB for generator systems.
In this constant evolution process we are driven to
develop many innovative designs to meet our customers
needs. Products such as the “Sootsinker”, a nuisance
pollution control device and cooled stack discharge systems
resonate our determination to be the technical leaders in our
field.
