AMPA ACLS Course criteria - October 2008 1. Minimum A four hour CPR course during each year of the three year cycle 2. Recommendation An eight hour training course during the three year cycle. _________________________________________________________________ _ ACLS courses must include the following (adult and paediatric): 1. CPR (updated guidelines on latest accepted practice) 2. Defibrillation Manual defibrillator Automated defibrillator 3. Management of airways CPR Endotracheal intubation Alternatives to endotracheal intubation – laryngeal mask airways Airway adjunctive equipment 4. Emergency cardiac resuscitation drugs 5. Emergency scenarios Cardio-respiratory arrest Collapse/syncope AMI Anaphylaxis ECG abnormalities If approved by the Professional Standards Committee, the courses listed below, or similar, would be accepted as an alternative to ACLS for one year of the three year cycle.
