EYP’S HAL KEY APPOINTED TO NATIONAL NFPA AND ICC BOARDS
ALBANY, NY -- January XX, 2012 – EYP Architecture & Engineering Senior Fire Protection
Engineer, Hal Key, was recently appointed to three influential committees, including: the Technical
Committee on Hazardous Chemicals (as a principal) for the National Fire Protection Association; and
the new Sustainability, Energy, & High Performance Code Reform Committee (as one of 15
members), and International Existing Building Code Committee for the upcoming 2012/2013 Code
Development Cycle (as Chair), both for the International Code Council.
Recently relocated to the Capital Region, Key has 40 years of experience in fire protection and
mechanical engineering, possessing extensive expertise in building code writing, fire protection and
mechanical system design, and occupancy studies. He previously worked as a fire protection engineer
for both the Mesa Fire Department and Grainger Consulting, in Mesa, AZ. Key is currently a member
of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, International Code Council, National Fire Protection
Association, International Fire Marshals Association, International Fire Chiefs Association, and
Arizona Fire Marshals Association.
With more than 70,000 members around the world, the National Fire Protection Association is an
international nonprofit organization whose mission is “to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and
other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards,
research, training, and education.”
The International Code Council is a member-focused association dedicated to helping the building
