Scientist DMPK Job Description Primary duties include the determination of in vivo and in vitro metabolic pathways in animals and humans, including identification and quantification of metabolites in biological matrices (e.g., blood, excreta) using HPLC with radioactivity detection and/or LC-MS/MS. The position requires expertise in sample preparation as well as subsequent analysis, including metabolite structure elucidation. The position also includes conduct of in vitro metabolism experiments for comparison of metabolic pathways across species and to assess the potential for drug-drug interactions in humans (identification of enzymes involved and inhibition studies). The determination of enzyme kinetic parameters may also be required. Qualifications: M.S. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or related field with a minimum of three years or B.S. with five years of hands-on with HPLC and LC-MS/MS. Prior experience with radioisotope handling (e.g., 3H, 14C), biochemical techniques and in vivo and in vitro metabolism is required. The candidate should be capable of working independently under moderate supervision and should possess good writing and verbal communication skills. An excellent working knowledge of general laboratory techniques, HPLC and LCMS/MS operation, and troubleshooting and method development is essential. A strong background in analytical problem solving is also required.
