About the Post:
A key role within the team, the post-holder will provide administrative support, helping the
communications team drive awareness of the charities activities as the leading breast cancer
‘care’ charity. This exciting role is ideal for anyone looking to start a career in communications,
with plenty of scope for development.
Flexibility:
In order to work effectively in a changing environment, flexibility is required from the post-holder.
Any other tasks that may be requested will be at the same level of responsibility and terms and
conditions of employment. The post-holder must be prepared to travel throughout the UK and to
work varying hours.
Key responsibilities:

Support the Communications Team to help drive awareness of the charity’s fundraising,
services and campaigning activities as the leading breast cancer ‘care’ charity

Provide diary management to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications

Provide day-to-day support to the Press, Celebrity and Internal Communications Teams
including administration tasks such as arranging meetings, booking meeting rooms and
arranging travel

Process invoices and monitor the Communication Team’s budget

Act as first port of call for journalists, distribute media requests and action them in busy
periods

Help the Press Team look after media volunteers

Pull together monthly media reports and support the Press Team with recording media
coverage

Lead on Press Team twitter account, encouraging the team to tweet and working closely
with Social Media

Collate, write, edit and distribute Ribbontalk which engage staff (the weekly staff
newsletter)

Create engaging copy and content for internal channels

Work with the Internal Communications Manager to set up monthly staff briefings, other
staff events and manage the intranet

Build relationships with staff across the charity to ensure content represents team

Support Celebrity Team by coordinating celebrity guest attendance

Compile out of hours and news monitoring rotas, as well as sending a daily news round up
to the organisation.

Be the team Superuser on the organisations database; Enterprise

Person Specification – Communications Team Administrator
Skills and Experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an attention to detail

Experience of working within a busy communications or marketing function

Understanding of writing for a variety of audiences

Strong organisational skills

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms

Strong time management skills, ability to prioritise work, handling conflicting demands and
tight deadlines

Administration within an office environment

Education to `A’ level (or equivalent) standard or above
Personal Attributes:

Enthusiastic and energetic with a positive ‘can do’ attitude

Passionate about communications

Team worker who is able to handle a fast moving pace with occasional rapid shifts in
priority

The ability to work independently to get the job done and show proactivity and initiative
within the remit of the role

Proven ability to see projects through to completion

A ‘people’ person, able to apply tact and diplomacy with a wide range of contacts

A commitment to improving the experience of people affected by breast cancer
