WILLIAM ALWYN – LIST OF WORKS
The following list of musical works by William Alwyn has been arranged by genre (opera/ballet,
orchestral, choral, vocal, chamber, film etc.), and then chronologically by date with the exception of the
film music suites and extracts section, which for convenience has been listed alphabetically. Poets and
authors names in the relevant sections appear in brackets after the main title. Individual titles to some
works have been included where known. Works, which remain incomplete and untitled and as yet
unidentified, have not been included here.
Alwyn’s principle publisher is Alfred Lengnick & Co. Ltd, although some works have been published by
Boosey & Hawkes Ltd, Oxford University Press, The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music,
Corda Music Publications, Forsyth Bros. Ltd, Roberton/Goodmusic and Stainer & Bell. There remains
much un-published music, which is housed along with the original manuscripts to the published works,
