Course Description:
This course is designed for primary care physicians (adult/pediatrics), family practice physicians, internal medicine
physicians, cardiovascular disease physicians, fellows in-training, radiologists, sonographers, nurse practitioners,
cardiovascular imaging technologists in areas such as echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT, and cardiac
MRI managing patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the participants should be able to:
Explain the role of echocardiography in the identification and management of patients with dyspnea, risk
stratification of patients with left ventricular diastolic dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac
hemodynamics.
Describe the role of cardiac imaging in the correct identification of patients with hypertrophy that might be
suggestive of infiltrative disorders, myocarditis, and myocardial viability.
Recognize the role of nuclear stress test, PET scanning and multidetector CT angiography in the identification
and management of patients with ischemic coronary artery disease.
