Paralon Warm Roof System with Intensive Green Roof. Project Title : Riverside Two. Location : Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin. Project Brief : Provide Paralon cold roof waterproofing over parking and utility spaces followed by the installation of an intensive green roof to be planted with species which have very specific demands for irrigation and highly aggressive root structures. Specifier : Dermot Foley Landscaping. www.dermotfoley.com Notes : The construction was based upon a flat concrete desk which was laid flat to facilitate the demand based irrigation system supplied by Moy Materials Ltd. The waterproofing was achieved by the application of a two layer Paralon system which is root resistant. Drainage is facilitated by the use of 60mm deep Diadem drainage and reservoir boards, which store up to 24 litres of water per square metre. Irrigation was facilitated by a single Diadem irrigation unit, which utilises a float controlled valve to regulate the depth of water maintained in the reservoir board. The roof has many Architectural features including a water filled reflection feature, angular steel planters, reminiscent of the bows of ships, containing cork trees and stainless steel planters, designed to contain the vigorous roots of Bamboo, used to provide privacy screening.
