ORGANISATION ENVIRONMENT:
As the State’s largest provider of disability services, Minda is stimulating growth and development
opportunities for more than 300 people in supported employment; creating pathways for over 300 young
people through various day options; supporting countless South Australian families through respite
services; and providing accommodation for over 500 people, with almost 250 of those living in the
community.

SERVICE DELIVERY:
The Learning & Development Coordinator will operate within Minda’s Learning & Development
department encompassing its Registered Training Organisation, The South Australian Learning Centre.
Its main purpose is to provide cost effective, high quality accredited training and professional
development courses to the Community Services Sector. SALC will continually evolve to ensure its
programs and short courses reflect leading and contemporary practice through its direct involvement in
the sector.
JOB ROLE AND OBJECTIVE:
The Learning & Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for the development, delivery and
coordination of training and education opportunities through SALC. With a focus upon ensuring high
quality outcomes for graduates including placement experience, this will be achieved through the
creation and facilitation of contemporary training packages supported by regular industry consultation
activities.

RTO Training and Assessment
 The design, development and ongoing evaluation of allocated training programmes that comply
with regulatory requirements
 Contribution to the maintenance and growth of SALC as a Registered Training Organisation by
ensuring systems, products and processes are compliant.
Professional Development
 Ensure own PD is maintained to fully demonstrate current knowledge and understanding of new
initiatives in relation to both VET training and assessment and own vocational area of expertise.
 Maintain PD records for auditing requirements

Stakeholder and other working relationships
 Liaise with key stakeholders to identify and create new business development
opportunities.
 Ensure effective professional relationships are maintained in all areas of delivery
 Support and mentor junior staff
 Development of strong working relationships with partnering agencies that provide access to well
facilitated and supported placements
Learning & Development
 Provision of high quality services, information and support for staff, students and trainees.
 Coordination and delivery of high quality accredited and non-accredited training programs as
delegated within area of competency including student enrolment and placement support
 Development of new training packages and new models of learning to support the needs of the
Community Services sector
 Ensure all training delivered embeds current frameworks such as Person Centred Thinking and
Human Rights.
STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Be physically and mentally capable and present themselves in a fit state to conduct their duties.

 Undergo a satisfactory police record history check on a regular basis as required.
 Be willing to work reasonable overtime to meet specific requirements on occasion.
 Be willing to attend training and development programs as directed.

QUALITY & RISK MANAGEMENT:

Positions reporting to the Learning & Development Coordinator are:

DECISION MAKING:
As per Delegation of Authority document at level 1.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTITUDE:
This position is required demonstration of the following:
Experience:
 Experience in product development within the VET sector
 Working within an RTO
 Experience of working with student management systems
 Substantial experience as a trainer and assessor
 Prior experience of working in the Community Services Sector, including demonstration of
industry currency
 Experience working with students from CALD and or/disability backgrounds
Knowledge:
 Current understanding of the Community Services sector
 Current understanding of the VET sector and ASQA regulatory requirements
 Knowledge of the AQF
Skills:
 High level of business acumen
 Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
 Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads
 Using a wide range of inclusive and innovative teaching styles
 IT literacy with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
 Development of high quality training products and resources
Attitude:
 Flexible approach to training requirements
 Passionate about lifelong learning with a values based approach to training
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110) or equivalent
 Disability or aligned Community Services qualification (ie Mental Health/ Aged Care ) at
