Mr. Stanley Chu

October 23, 2004 K Düsseldorf
Respected Mr Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, respected Mr Liao Zhengpin,
President of CPPIA (China Plastics Processing Industry Association), respected Mr Bernd Knörr,
Secretary General of EUROMAP, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It is my great pleasure today to have so many participants and representatives from enterprises,
associations and media all over the world to attend “Chinaplas 2005 Show Presentation and
China Market Update”. China’s plastics and rubber industries enjoyed promising results in the
past years, contributing to the success of every edition of Chinaplas. I’d like to extend my sincere
gratitude to our distinguished guests and participants who have supported and contributed to our
exhibitions.
Being held at K Düsseldorf, Chinaplas 2005 show presentation demonstrates a closer strategic
partnership between Adsale and Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, the organizer of K-Fair, after signing
a MOU agreement this year. Messe Düsseldorf GmbH has also been serving as the organizer of
German pavilion in Chinaplas for a long history. This presentation signifies Messe Düsseldorf
GmbH’s strong support to Chinaplas 2005, which is being recognized as Asia’s largest and most
influential international trade fair of its kind.
Since its inception in 1983, the scale of Chinaplas has been expanding. In view of continuous
booming of China’s plastics market and the growing number of new enterprises set up in
different regions of China, Chinaplas is now held every even year in Shanghai and rotates
between Beijing and Guangzhou in the odd year.
In 2004, the result of Chinaplas in Shanghai was very satisfactory. The exhibition occupied a
total area of 60,000sqm, with a growth of 67% over the 2002 event in Shanghai. The no. of
exhibitors was 937 from 26 countries and regions. There were 8 official pavilions / groups from
Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, PR China and Taiwan Province, United Kingdom and USA. The
no. of visitors were 57,751. Among which 50,723 were trade visitors from China and 7,028 were
from 57 overseas countries. These included 58.6% from East China, 10.7% from South China,
13.3% from North China, 3.4% from West China, 1.8% from Central China and 12.2% from
overseas. Delegation groups from Turkey, Japan, India, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia,
etc. were also organized. According to survey conducted, majority of the exhibitors agreed that
participation in Chinaplas 2004 was fruitful in terms of enhancing corporate / product image in
the market, meeting potential buyers and generating sales need.
With the successful completion of Chinaplas 2004, we quickly started preparation of Chinaplas
2005. Currently, Chinaplas is being recognized as the most influential exhibition in the plastics
and rubber industries in Asia. We expect that Chinaplas 2005 will continue to make higher
achievement. May I now take this opportunity to present some information about the progress of
Chinaplas 2005.
We are pleased to announce that Chinaplas 2005 will rotate back to Guangzhou, one of the most
important manufacturing and export bases in China. Chinaplas 2005 will be held from June
21-24 at the largest exhibition center in Asia, Guangzhou International Convention and
Exhibition Centre (GICEC), which is located at Pazhou, Guangzhou, PR China with an exhibition
area of 70,000 sqm. Anticipating a size growth of 15% from 2004 event, at least 6 halls at GICEC
will be used in order to accommodate all the exhibitors worldwide.
With the fact that major manufacturing industries are located in Guangdong region with clusters
found in the Pearl River Delta and along the coast, South China region experiences prominent
growth in plastics production. International plastics and rubber manufacturers must now move
rapidly into South China if they wish to share in the promising returns and to strengthen their
credibility as industry experts. From a geographical perspective, Chinaplas 2005 provides an
excellent opportunity for overseas suppliers to enter into China as well as to help Chinese
suppliers to further open up global market. We estimate that there will be more exhibitors
participating from overseas and China. Chinaplas 2005 will sustain its record-breaking
momentum by attracting 1,000 exhibitors and 8 group pavilions from Austria, Canada, Germany,
Italy, PR China, Taiwan Province, United Kingdom and USA. We are confident that high quality
visitors will attend the event for business cooperation, industrial update and purchase of
equipment and materials for their production.
So far, response to Chinaplas 2005 has been very encouraging. Almost 80% space has been
confirmed or reserved. All enterprises are looking forward to attending Chinaplas 2005 which
can bring them further benefits and trade opportunities.
No doubt, a successful exhibition should directly address to the changing needs of buyers and
suppliers in the market. To provide convenience to visitors, Chinaplas 2005 will continue to set
up seven theme zones, namely Auxiliary & Testing Equipment Zone, Chemicals & Raw Materials
Zone, Die & Mould Zone, Rubber Equipment Zone, Machinery Zone, Drinktec & Plastic
Packaging Zone and Semi-Finished Products Zone.
Today, a new global business model requires information of accessing to the right people,
expertise, and a variety of solutions. Thus, a more tailored approach will be needed. To
encourage in-depth market exchange and to consolidate networks with industry professionals, a
series of symposium and conference will be organized during Chinaplas 2005. Topics will
include Plastics & Rubber in Autoparts Production, Technological Breakthrough in Plastic
Packaging for Food and Beverage Industries, New Applications of Plastics in Electronics &
Electrical Appliances Production, etc. Besides, different plastics associations in China also plan
to organize their annual meetings at the time of the fair. It is an effective way to capture growing
trade opportunities coming with China’s increased integration with the global economy.
Chinaplas 2005 is organized by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., co-organized by China Foreign
Trade Centre (Group), China National Light Industry Council – China Plastics Processing
Industry Association and Guangdong Plastics Industry Association. In particular, we are most
honored to have European Committee of Machinery Manufacturers for the Plastics and Rubber
Industries (EUROMAP) as our sponsor for the 16th consecutive time since 1987.
To conclude, we all foresee a growing demand for plastics and rubber technologies and
materials in China. Adsale will strive to expand and extend our freeways to enhance our clients
in maximizing their market exposure and interface. I hope that we will continue to gain your
support and help in preparing for Chinaplas 2005. We will commit ourselves to make the best
Chinaplas 2005.
Lastly, I would like to express my heartfelt thank to Messe Düsseldorf for their support offered in
this presentation. May I wish all exhibitors and visitors a fruitful event in K Fair.
Thank you.
