Press Release May 18, 2011 Performance Plastics Receives Grant for New Production Equipment Cincinnati, Ohio – Performance Plastics Ltd. has received a $197,238 “State Energy Plan Grant” from the State of Ohio. Funding for the grant was provided through the Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The grant will be used to fund 50% of the cost to replace 3 hydraulically-actuated plastic injection molding machines with newer, faster and more energy efficient electric models. The machines are on order with delivery and installation scheduled for mid June. Two employees will be hired to support the expanded production capability that the new machines will provide. The machines are being purchased from a local company. The Cincinnati Milacron ROBOSHOT S2000I-B Series injection molding machines will reduce energy consumption by 50 to 80% while also producing parts up to 50% faster compared to the existing hydraulic machines. “We are very excited to have the state assistance for our purchase of these high-performance plastic injection molding machines. They will allow us to use larger, more complex molds that can produce smaller parts with intricate geometries and thinner wall-thickness for our medical, energy, aerospace and food processing customers while also saving money on energy costs. It’s a win-win situation that will help us continue to build our business while helping the local economy.” said Ken Kelly, General Manager. Performance Plastics manufactures plastics components used as replacements for metals, glass, ceramics and thermo-set parts for critical-use applications. They produce parts and assemblies that are highly inert, compatible with most organic compounds, have good barrier properties, excellent friction and wear properties and withstand high continuous use temperatures. “Until now, traditional manufacturing processes and resin waste have been the limiting factor to produce these types of parts at an acceptable cost. Our special mold designs, materials and manufacturing techniques drastically reduce material usage to provide significant cost savings.” said Kelly. Performance Plastics continually solves customers’ most difficult performance problems to increase the value of existing products and provide innovative advantages for next generation concepts.
