Toshiba T700/701 and
T500/501 – cableless
presentations with
wireless LAN

At this year’s Photokina, Toshiba’s Professional Visual Products division will be
presenting an entirely new line of wireless LAN data and video projectors for the
first time in Europe. The models T700 and T701, together with the T500 and T501,
were designed for professional use and are Toshiba’s first projectors equipped with
the wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) technology. The projectors of the Performance
Wireless class can be used as peer-to-peer devices or within a network environment,
thus allowing wireless presentations at larger distances. The user can easily establish
s wireless connection between notebook and projector without time-consuming
setup, and the software simply needs to be installed once. The projectors of the T
series are the ideal choice for presentations in any conferencing situation.
The T700 and the T701 – due to their Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology – have a
brightness of 2,000, the models T500 and T501 offer a brightness of 1,600 ANSI
lumens. All four new models provide XGA resolution, a contrast ratio of 400:1 and
further extras, such as the ECO mode or the freeze frame function.
The new devices are also available as T701 and T501 models equipped with
Toshiba’s unique integrated projection camera.

Toshiba T series: More presentation freedom with wireless
LAN
To be able to start your presentation via wireless LAN, a WLAN card has to be
inserted into the back of the projectors and the notebook in case WLAN is not
already integrated as a standard. The software “Toshiba Projector Wireless Utility“
guarantees easy system configuration and a fast connection via the IEEE 802.11b
standard. There are two ways of presenting your data with the Toshiba T series
devices via WLAN: you can establish a connection via your IP address which means
that your data is encoded according to WEP+ at a rate of 64/128 bits. This option is
particularly suitable for data presentation without third party access possibilities. The
other mode is an ad hoc mode (peer-to-peer) intended for use in individual
environments.

Toshiba T series: Full of features and a new design
Both the T701 and the T501 are equipped with an integrated projection camera
(810,000 pixels). This additional technology only available in Toshiba projectors can
be used to incorporate individual documents or smaller items and models into any
presentation by simply switching to another menu item. The user can quickly switch
between the computer and the projection camera. The camera of both projectors has
an overlay and a memory function. Images can be transferred directly to the
notebook via WLAN and saved there.
To meet even sophisticated customer needs, both projectors with a weight of just 3.4
kilograms (4.1 kilograms including camera) are technically well-equipped. The
presentor can move around freely thanks to the remote control device with an
integrated laser pointer or the mouse remote control. The ECO mode reduces
brightness when necessary, thus protecting the high performance lamp and cutting
down on the operating noise which is silent enough anyhow.
Availability, price and warranty
All models will be available from the end of September 2002 from distributors and
specialized traders. The T700 at a price of € 5,550 plus VAT, the model equipped
with the projection camera (T701) at a price of € 6,890. The T500 is available at a
price of € 4,990 plus VAT. The corresponding model with a camera (T501) costs €
6,250 plus VAT.
All prices are recommended prices.
Toshiba offers a three year service warranty for all Toshiba business projectors.
