PosterProject: Endangered Species and their habitat. Process: In goups of 4 students you will make a poster about an endangered animal and its habitat. Then every group will present their poster to the rest of the class. You will receive two grades for this project, one for content (biology) and one for language (English). You’ll be able to work on this project in both Biology and English lessons. How to start: 1. Your biology teacher will tell you which habitat you will have to focus on for your poster presentation. On the habitat sheet you’ll find a couple of animals... as a group choose ONE animal to describe for your poster. 2. When you’ve chosen your group animal find information about its habitat, describe it in terms of its physical environment (include a picture) the way your animal is adapted to its habitat (include a picture of your animal) the dangers threatening the habitat the dangers threatening the animal as an effect of its habitat’s deterioration. and the possible solutions to the problem Divide who is doing what. Every member of the group should present a subtopic. You’ll get a list of sources (internet sites or books in the Mediatheek) 3. Bring to class all the information you printed out. Take page 19 of your biology book as an example of how to organize the adaptations of your animal to its environment. Discuss all information found. Make a poster plan making sure it is a coherent or connected story. 4. Rewrite the information in your own words and piece all the information together on a poster including the pictures you found. 5. Check each others information for language and spelling mistakes. 6. Decide in your group how you are going to do the presentation, who does what and what subtopic should come first, who does the introduction or conclusion. Every student should speak for about 1 or 2 minutes. Practice together. 7. Give your presentation (don’t forget to use the poster for your presentation).
