1920’s Magazine Project (100 points) Instructions: You and a partner will create a magazine about the United States during the time period of the “Roaring 20’s”. It is your job to utilize the information that you have learned in class about this time period and apply it to this activity. The magazine (choose a theme!) that you create will include a variety of information and will require different types of learning and skill in order to complete it. In creating this magazine, you and your partner must choose at least 3 out of the following 4 assignments to do. These assignments are: 1. A letter to the editor of the magazine (20 points). This letter must express your personal opinion about an event or overall theme that we covered in class. Minimum of 1 page (see guidelines for font and paragraph at bottom of page). 2. A political cartoon depicting a controversial issue that was prominent in the 1920s. Must use color. OR An advertisement: that might be used in a magazine or newspaper at this time. Must use color. 3. An article describing an event or overall theme (20 points). This article must be informative and accurate in details. Minimum of 1 page (see guidelines for font and paragraph at bottom of page). 4. A poem or song about the 1920s (20 points). I am allowing you to be as creative as possible; however, you must put effort into this section (no roses are red; violets are blue types of poems!). Ask me if you need help with this assignment. Along with the assignments that you choose to complete, your magazine must include: 5. A cover page (similar to the ones shown in class), with illustrations/events (10 points). 6. A table of contents (10 points). 7. Your typed assignments (choices 1&3) must be: (10 points) a. in a print font (ex. New Times Roman/Comic Sans/Tahoma/Arial) set between 10-12 b. paragraph spacing must be set at ‘1.5 lines’ c. margins set at a maximum of 1.5 inches 8. After completing these activities, please staple them together and make them as presentable as possible… remember, this is a magazine! (10 points) Take your time and be as accurate, organized, and neat as possible. You will have several class periods to do this project so no need to rush your work! Remember that I do not grade you on your artistic ability but your process; TRY!!
